SPOTTED: Srixon ZX7 Mk II irons

Srixon’s ZX7 irons have been immensely popular with GolfWRXers and fitters alike. The fastest Srixon irons to be put into play by Srixon staffers following their release in January of 2021, the compact, single-piece forged ZX7 irons replaced the iconic Z745.

Now, there looks to be a successor to (or a line extension of) the ZX7: Srixon ZX7 Mk II irons, which GolfWRX spotted on Tour at the Shriners Children’s Open. While Srixon is presently closed-lipped regarding any technical details or potential release date, GolfWRX was allowed to take in-hand photos of the clubs.

Naturally, there has been plenty of speculative chatter in the GolfWRX forums.

apsp_1 says: “Looks to have less offset in the lower clubs, a little bit more rounding of the top line, and slight movement of the toe weighting look to be the main takeaways in this version. Not expecting much difference between this and the OG Zx7’s but i’m curious how the mainframe factors into this version.”

cw1209 says: “These look good. Obvious differences are the increase in mass behind the sweet spot and some etching on the face between the grooves for spin management. Maybe less offset too? This set could be bent weak. Was hoping for a less square/thinner top line, but it must be what their pros like to see. Looking forward to testing these.”

WristySwing says: “These are probably my perfect irons. Pre-worn leading edge + a squarer, longer blade shape. If they did the same with the ZX5 MkII that will be perfect. I could easily see myself in a ZX5 5-7, ZX7 8-P combo. Hell, if the ZX5 looks as good as this does (slimmed down, less offset) I could see myself going all 5. Forgiveness FTW.”

Slab city on the Korn Ferry Tour — Lead Tape Report

This week, we have our Tour Photographer, Greg Moore, on the ground at the OccuNet Classic at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas, for the 14th event of the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour season. With that, we see some great things in the Lead Tape Report as we roll into Amarillo.

Joel Thelen

Monday Qualifier, Joel Thelen is in the field this week. He has played on the Korn Ferry Tour for a full season in 2023, and he is back in action this week. A couple of clubs caught my eye this week in his bag.

First off: His trusted Titleist 816 H2 hybrid. This club came out in October of 2015, and it still remains strong in the bag. Also, take a look at this Odyssey White Hot OG 7, putting a capital S in the 7S model. This custom neck has some impressive lean for an arm-lock-style putter. The bottom of the putter is covered in tape for optimal weighting.

Mitchell Meissner

Taking a look at Mitchell Meissner’s bag this week, we have some great lead tape coverage. Top to bottom working from fairway metals, irons, and wedges. We can see on the short irons and wedges that there is tape at the base of the grip, adding a little counterbalance. Along with that, some tape on the short irons and wedges as well. Moving to his putter, he rolls the Odyssey 7 Bird putter. Meissner putts left-handed and strikes the ball right-handed.
