Back9Network files lawsuit against former CEO Jamie Bosworth
The Back9Network has filed a lawsuit in Connecticut Superior Court against Jamie Bosworth, the company’s former CEO and co-founder who resigned last July.
The suit, filed in December, alleges that Bosworth – despite an agreement he signed when he left Back9 prohibiting it – has continued to make derogatory comments about the network in addition to sharing proprietary company information with third parties. The network is asking the court to impose an injunction forcing Bosworth to cease the behavior.
As first reported by GolfNewsNet, the Back9 lawsuit claims Bosworth has on several occasions contacted employees, investors, and potential investors and “made false and disparaging comments about the company’s financial outlook” as well about the company’s management – a group made up primarily of industry executives Bosworth himself brought into the company.
The network says Bosworth not only ignored a cease-and-desist letter sent last October, but in fact fired off a barrage of disparaging text messages to Back9 board members, investors and potential investors.
Bosworth, who left Back9 shortly after his divorce from former Back9 on-air personality Jennifer Bosworth (Lahmers), is also accused of illegally obtaining confidential Back9 financial documents and sharing the information with other parties.
Claiming Bosworth is in violation of his separation agreement and that he has caused damage to the company, Back9 is seeking monetary relief.
Last week, GolfNewsNet reported that the golf lifestyle network might be in financial trouble having missed a Jan. 9 payroll for non-hourly employees, including on-air personalities and control room personnel.

AVL: My U.S. Amateur local qualifying experience
This past Monday, I played in the U.S. Amateur local qualifier at Rock Creek Country Club in Portland, Oregon. A full tee sheet from 7:30 a.m. to 1:55 p.m., the top 11 scores would make it to the U.S. Amateur final qualifying.
I teed off at 10:48 a.m.. With the 7:30 am tee time, you can get a feel for the leaders’ pace, and they were off and running on the challenging setup at Rock Creek.

Getting to the highlight of the round on the par five 17th, a drive up the left side and 212 yards left to the front hole location. I took out a 5-iron with plans of middle of the green. The ball ended up 8 feet left of the hole, pin high. A slight downhill putt dropped in for an eagle 3 on the 17th. With the cut line looking to be anywhere from -2 to even par. This was the boost I had been waiting for all day.
With making par from the trees on 18, it was time to wait for a potential playoff with a posted score of one under par 71.
Three hours later, it was playoff time. 8 players for 6 spots. I made par on the playoff hole, which was good enough to advance to the U.S. Amateur final qualifying in July. USGA qualifiers sure deliver on all of the emotions in golf!

Hope he wins. The real question here should be, does golf really need a cheesy network for poseurs and page 3 girls?
