Member review highlights

@tnrts345 (M7 GPS REMOTE Electric Caddy):

“I received the M7 GPS Remote trolley along with the Dry Series cart bag, and first impressions are outstanding. This was actually quite the surprise, as I was originally expecting to test the M5 GPS — but I definitely won’t complain about the added remote functionality! The bag honestly reminds me of a tour bag with the amount of storage it offers. The EASILOCK system is a tremendous feature, and I’m excited to put it to the test once I get out on the course.

“I did run into a software blip with my model, but the team at Motocaddy already has a replacement inbound for me — full course review to follow once I get some rounds in. I also want to give a huge shoutout to their customer service and tech support team. They answered all my questions and provided some great insight into the updates made to the new model. They recently moved from Linux to Android for the new software platform and are excited to continue providing top-tier GPS functionality within the carts. My first round with it is slated for Monday, so more to come on the technology built into the trolley.

“Initial thoughts on build quality: this is a top-tier electric trolley. The finishes feel premium, and the entire package exceeded my expectations. Coming from a Clicgear, the materials, fit, and overall feel are several levels above. The wheels are sturdy, the grips have a high-quality rubber feel, and the balance between the metal and plastic components feels very refined. Setup was straightforward with zero issues. Doing a dry run assembly was simple, and the instructions for both the cart and accessories were easy to follow. I also really like the use of hinges instead of sliding mechanisms when unfolding the trolley. I’ve had issues with sliding mechanisms on previous push carts over the past few seasons, so this design choice feels much more durable and confidence-inspiring.

“The Dry Series bag is going to be my go-to for years to come. It feels extremely solid in construction and has premium finishes that should do a great job keeping water out. I’m also a big fan of the top front pocket for my rangefinder and valuables — it’s much more accessible than my normal stand bag, and I won’t have to dig around for my keys and wallet after every round anymore.

“My initial thoughts summarized: extremely high-quality build quality in both the bag and trolley. The premium finishes and materials really help this setup stand above the rest in my opinion. Customer service also deserves another shoutout for the attentiveness and quick turnaround to get me back up and running. Looking forward to my first round in a few days, but for now I’ll be testing the remote functionality around the yard. More to come soon!”

@mp33er (M7 GPS REMOTE Electric Caddy):

“Cart: The built quality is superior, with no creaking or rough edges, and the finish is beautiful. What I liked about this model is the battery position. I know MGI has recently changed the location of its battery, but its vertical attachment in the past wasn’t that great, shifting the cart’s center of gravity toward the back and making it more prone to tipping over. Also, the M7 cart’s screen cover, resolution, and brightness are very clear on the course.

“Dry-Series Cart Bag: “This is a very attractive bag itself, with ample storage pockets and space. All the pockets have sealing zippers, as the name “Dry-Series” means seriously. Its 14-way top with a dedicated putter slot is very functional and sturdy. Also, the Easilock feature I tested on the course proved that it works on a very hilly course, too. This bag did not budge at all as it moved up or down the hill, or went over the concrete cart path edges. More on this as I will test my Ghost bag, which does not have this feature.

“I got to play one round with this cart-and-bag combo. My home course is super hilly! (It has “Hill” in its name.) That is why the course was primarily designed as a riding course, even though there are still some walkers and cart players. As I like walking golf, I used to carry a bag, which was very tiring toward the end of the round. So, this is a godsend for me! Still, with the cart on this hilly course, maneuvering it with the remote only was somewhat scary. I think the best built-in feature of the cart is DHC (Downhill Control), as it gave me peace of mind knowing it would not run away from me off a cliff or down a hill while it was moving. Regarding the remote control, I need to test more as I feel more comfortable. My impression is that straight-line control is excellent, while left- or right-turn control is not perfectly smooth. More on this as I use a few more rounds on the course.”

@adamwon84 (M1 DHC Electric Caddy):

“First time getting to use the Motocaddy was Sunday, I played 18 holes. I was extremely impressed with the cart, even with the course being so wet in some spots. It was nice to be able to set the speed and just walk behind it while only having to steer it. For me, I was expecting to only be able to walk 9 holes in due to my sciatica, but the cart really made that easier. It felt more like taking a walk with my clubs instead of having to lug them around on my back.

Pros:

-Speed adjustment was instant and I could do it on the fly while it was trucking along
-The tires did very well on wet grass, and the M1 was able to get through deeper puddles without struggle (it did slow down a bit but I wasnt expecting it to glide across the water or anything)
-The unit is very balanced, M1 was going up and down hills with no issues
-Easy to take out of the car and setup, took about 12 seconds
-The DHC (Automatic Downhill Control) worked very well on the wet hills, the cart did a great job keeping the same speed down the hills without running away from me
-The Adjustable Distance Control mode was really good. You can set the unit to do 15, 30 and 45 yards and then it drives off in a straight line. I was using this to go from green to tee while putting as well as sending it off on a few holes down the fairway while waiting for people to tee off, etc. Point and click, really liked it.

Cons:

-The cupholder was a bit too small for my usual water bottle that I bring with me. If the M1 was on a cart part or fairway, the water bottle was fine but at anytime I would take it over some bumpy ground or cart path it would knock my bottle out. Not a game changer or anything as I can just get an elastic band for it and that will fix the issue
-The tires were great, but if I tried to go up a wet hill they would slip and slide a bit. It was still able to get up the hills, but it would change direction due to the front wheel coming up off the ground. Not a game changer or anything, the unit is great but it was something I noticed that some folks might not like. For me, it wasn’t a big deal but listing it here anyways.
-The umbrella holder is great, but I really wish I was able to put the umbrella in it a bit higher so that I could walk under it without having to be right on top of the handle/umbrella bouncing on my head a bit. I am not super super tall or anything, I am right around 6’3” and it was fine but I had to be rather close to avoid the umbrella bouncing and hitting my head. I have an idea I want to try with a piece of PVC to raise it 2-3 inches which should correct it. Nothing insanely broken or anything, just slightly annoying
-The Adjustable Distance Control is really good, the only negative is that I do wish I could just hit a button to activate it instead of holding down the speed dial till it switches over. It takes a second or two longer than I was expecting, would be nice if it was its own button that I can just hit and set then push the main button (not a big deal, more of a “I am too impatient”).
