Spotted: Viktor Hovland tinkering with driver length at the 2026 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Viktor Hovland recorded a top-ten finish at last week’s WM Phoenix Open, despite struggling massively off the tee. The Norwegian ranked 63rd for Strokes Gained: Off The Tee in Phoenix, losing almost 2.5 strokes to the field with his driver.

Before last week’s event, Hovland revealed that he was testing a driver shaft that was a quarter of an inch shorter than his regular driver shaft, and it appears that the 28-year-old is still searching ahead of this week’s event in California.

At Pebble Beach on Monday, Hovland was seen testing drivers at 45.75″ versus the 45″ driver he put in play last week:

At last week’s event, Hovland made a putter grip change that resulted in a positive positive uptick on the greens, but was very critical of the way he was striking the ball off the tee, saying:

“Yeah, my putting has been very up and down, very so-so, but I do feel like with the new grip change that will give me a bit more stability. So if I can continue to chip and putt well, my iron game is still good considering how poorly it feels to hit a golf ball, but the driver has really got to be figured out. I got to put the ball in play.”

This week, we have our Tour Photographer, Greg Moore, on the ground at the OccuNet Classic at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas, for the 14th event of the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour season. With that, we see some great things in the Lead Tape Report as we roll into Amarillo.

Joel Thelen

Monday Qualifier, Joel Thelen is in the field this week. He has played on the Korn Ferry Tour for a full season in 2023, and he is back in action this week. A couple of clubs caught my eye this week in his bag.

First off: His trusted Titleist 816 H2 hybrid. This club came out in October of 2015, and it still remains strong in the bag. Also, take a look at this Odyssey White Hot OG 7, putting a capital S in the 7S model. This custom neck has some impressive lean for an arm-lock-style putter. The bottom of the putter is covered in tape for optimal weighting.

Mitchell Meissner

Taking a look at Mitchell Meissner’s bag this week, we have some great lead tape coverage. Top to bottom working from fairway metals, irons, and wedges. We can see on the short irons and wedges that there is tape at the base of the grip, adding a little counterbalance. Along with that, some tape on the short irons and wedges as well. Moving to his putter, he rolls the Odyssey 7 Bird putter. Meissner putts left-handed and strikes the ball right-handed.
