Scotty Cameron announces redesigned Phantom putters for 2026
Today, Scotty Cameron has announced the latest installment of its Phantom mallet putters. The tour-inspired designs feature softer feel, improved distance control, and an expanded range of setup configurations for different putting styles, per the company.
Three new head shapes highlight the 2026 Phantom offerings: 5, 7, and 9R, which are available in nine unique combinations of putter heads, necks, and shafts.
As usual, Cameron incorporated tour player feedback and Scotty Cameron Putter Studio testing in the development of the designs.

Key features include:
- Full-face Studio Carbon Steel inserts: Each putter features a full-face Studio Carbon Steel (SCS) insert with chain-link face milling, technology that debuted in the 2025 Studio Style lineup. Carbon steel’s superior damping capacity compared to materials like Teryllium and stainless steel creates a softer sound at impact while maintaining ball speed for precise distance control, according to Cameron.
- Expanded configuration options: The lineup now offers five neck and shaft configurations across the three head shapes, providing options for different stroke types and player preferences. New additions include a low-torque Onset Center (OC) configuration in the Phantom 5 OC and a double-bend shaft option for the Phantom 7.
- Tour-influenced design refinements: Several subtle but important changes were made based on professional player input, including deeper faces with modified crowns for improved visuals at address and redesigned flatter soles for more consistent setup (developed with input from Justin Thomas). Also: A modified jet neck with less aggressive forward lean.

2026 Scotty Cameron Phantom putters: 3 head shapes
- Phantom 5: A compact wingback mallet trusted by tour winners, including Justin Thomas and Russell Henley. Available in four configurations: standard mid-bend shaft (5), 5.2 plumbing neck, 5.5 jet neck, and the new Onset Center low-torque design for square, straight-back-and-through strokes.
- Phantom 7: A sharp-angled wingback with a larger footprint and rail-like alignment features. Now available with a new double-bend shaft (7) for a more face-balanced feel, plus 7.2 plumbing neck and 7.5 jet neck options.
- Phantom 9R: The rounded evolution of the 2024 Phantom 9, featuring softer contours and edges. Offers two alignment options: a long single sightline (9R) or abbreviated sightline (9.2R), both available with mid-bend shaft or 9.2 plumbing neck.
What Scotty Cameron says
“The popularity of mallets continues to grow, both on tour and with dedicated golfers everywhere,” said Austie Rollinson, Scotty Cameron’s Senior Director of Putter R&D. “There’s no one ‘right’ way to putt, and the new Phantom line is a great example of that.”
Paul Vizanko, Director of Putter Fitting & Player Development, noted overwhelmingly positive reactions from tour players to early prototypes, particularly regarding the deeper face design that addresses players who tend to hit up on the ball.
Pricing, specs, availability
The new Phantom putters are priced at $499, with the exception of the Phantom 5 OC at $549. All models feature 3.5 degrees of loft, a 70-degree lie angle, and stock lengths of 33″, 34″, and 35″. Each putter comes equipped with a gray Full Contact grip. At retail February 27.

Slab city on the Korn Ferry Tour — Lead Tape Report
This week, we have our Tour Photographer, Greg Moore, on the ground at the OccuNet Classic at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas, for the 14th event of the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour season. With that, we see some great things in the Lead Tape Report as we roll into Amarillo.
Joel Thelen
Monday Qualifier, Joel Thelen is in the field this week. He has played on the Korn Ferry Tour for a full season in 2023, and he is back in action this week. A couple of clubs caught my eye this week in his bag.
First off: His trusted Titleist 816 H2 hybrid. This club came out in October of 2015, and it still remains strong in the bag. Also, take a look at this Odyssey White Hot OG 7, putting a capital S in the 7S model. This custom neck has some impressive lean for an arm-lock-style putter. The bottom of the putter is covered in tape for optimal weighting.

Mitchell Meissner
Taking a look at Mitchell Meissner’s bag this week, we have some great lead tape coverage. Top to bottom working from fairway metals, irons, and wedges. We can see on the short irons and wedges that there is tape at the base of the grip, adding a little counterbalance. Along with that, some tape on the short irons and wedges as well. Moving to his putter, he rolls the Odyssey 7 Bird putter. Meissner putts left-handed and strikes the ball right-handed.

- macedan: “Started with a hand-me-down Golden Bear set from my brother when I was in high school, never really played more than once a year or got into the game until about summer of 2017. First purchased a set of Cleveland CG4’s (I actually really miss this set sometimes, soft & not terribly large for a GI iron), moved into Nike Vapor Fly’s by the end of the year. Those lasted until spring of 18 when I decided I wanted new, so I traded them in for TM Rbladez. Honestly, although I liked the Rbladez, poor decision on my part, I think this was really about the only time so far that after a week or two I was kicking myself for not staying with what I had. Rbladez stayed with me until late last summer when I switched to P790’s and (knock on wood) I am hoping this will be my longest lasting set.”
- JimmyC59: “MacGregor Jack Nicklaus Triple Crown. Palmer The Standard. Still play these.”
