Spotted: Adam Scott’s new L.A.B. OZ.1 Proto broomstick putter

We have seen a lot of custom L.A.B. Golf putters out on tour this year as players adopt their putters into the bag. One player who has been using a L.A.B. putter for awhile now is Adam Scott, and now we have a look at a prototype that he helped develop.

GolfWRX learned Adam and L.A.B. Golf CEO Sam Hahn have been working on this OZ.1 putter for over a year now, getting every detail dialed in perfectly.

Adam is using the OZ.1 in the Broomstick variant as that is his preferred style of putter. No word on if shorter versions will become available in the future, but I hope they do. The shape is very conservative when you first glance at it, but there are a lot of shaping and milling when you start to look closer.

The shaft is of course installed in the center of the head, but there are no holes or openings in the OZ.1 The front portion of the head is raised and you can see the precise milling that slopes down to the rear of the putter. You can see that L.A.B. built up the perimeter weighting as the rear center is more cut out. We can assume they did that for added stability on mishits.

There are a couple of different site line options as we see a single line and dual lines milled into the top of the putter.

The face on the L.A.B. OZ.1 looks to tbe the same as the current DF3 and Mezz.1 putters that they offer. The horizontal lines offer a softer feel and create added topspin as the ball leaves the face.

Again like the current L.A.B. putters, most of the sole weights are pushed forward on the head to ensure the face is always pointed towards the target through the stroke. There are a lot of weights on the sole since this is a broomstick model and the headweight needs to be high for the right performance.

We don’t have any word on if or when this putter could be available to us at retail, these are just prototypes for Adam Scott. He might put one of these in play in the next week or so and we will be on the lookout for that.

Slab city on the Korn Ferry Tour — Lead Tape Report

This week, we have our Tour Photographer, Greg Moore, on the ground at the OccuNet Classic at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas, for the 14th event of the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour season. With that, we see some great things in the Lead Tape Report as we roll into Amarillo.

Joel Thelen

Monday Qualifier, Joel Thelen is in the field this week. He has played on the Korn Ferry Tour for a full season in 2023, and he is back in action this week. A couple of clubs caught my eye this week in his bag.

First off: His trusted Titleist 816 H2 hybrid. This club came out in October of 2015, and it still remains strong in the bag. Also, take a look at this Odyssey White Hot OG 7, putting a capital S in the 7S model. This custom neck has some impressive lean for an arm-lock-style putter. The bottom of the putter is covered in tape for optimal weighting.

Mitchell Meissner

Taking a look at Mitchell Meissner’s bag this week, we have some great lead tape coverage. Top to bottom working from fairway metals, irons, and wedges. We can see on the short irons and wedges that there is tape at the base of the grip, adding a little counterbalance. Along with that, some tape on the short irons and wedges as well. Moving to his putter, he rolls the Odyssey 7 Bird putter. Meissner putts left-handed and strikes the ball right-handed.
