WITB Time Machine: Matthew Wolff’s winning WITB, 2019 3M Open
Six years ago, at the 3M Open, playing on a sponsor’s exemption, Matthew Wolff burst onto the golf scene with a victory in just his third professional start. At the time, the sky looked to be the limit for the Oklahoma State alum with a swing and forward press so unique they defy words.
Wolff poured in a 26-foot eagle putt with his TaylorMade Spider X Tour putter on the 72nd hole, beating Bryson DeChambeau and Collin Morikawa by a stroke at 21 under par.
Here’s a look at what Wolff had in the bag at TPC Twin Cities for his 2019 3M Open win.

Eagled 18 to win by 1 over Morikawa and Bryson that year–pretty impressive. I remember him finishing 2nd behind Bryson at Winged Foot in 2020 and felt like he had a super high ceiling at the time. While he’s a few top 5s on the LIV Tour, it’s almost like he’s disappeared. Still only 26, though…would love to see him bombing it again (with that unique swing) on the PGA Tour when his LIV deal is up.

And then he disappeared. Did he retire from golf? Haven’t heard a peep from him

Dude was a funky chicken swing for sure. LIV tour and never to be seen again I’m not sure if he’s even
on any team with LIV.
