Tour Rundown: Honda Classic sees Straka benefit from Berger’s stumble | Aces for Jimenez
It was a light week of professional golf, as the world watched the worst of humanity unfold. If aficionados were able to turn from the tragedy in Ukraine, they likely saw Spain’s Miguel Ángel Jiménez notch not one, but two holes in one in Tucson, Arizona. Other titles were won in Thailand and Florida, and it is time to run down all three events, in this week’s light take on Tour Rundown.

PGA Tour: Honda Classic sees Straka benefit from Berger’s stumble
It would be too easy to look at his double and single bogeys on the par-five holes on Sunday, and suggest that they did Daniel Berger in. Berger had been known as a closer until today; when he entered contention, he rarely gave ground back to the field. For some unknown reason, the Florida State alum ran out of gas on Sunday, allowing a crowd to take a run at the Honda Invitational title.
Berger began the week magnificently. Matching 65s took him to the top of the leader’s board, and a third-round 69 was enough to keep him atop the standings. The double at the third broke his spell, and two more bogeys followed, at five and six. He would post 74, and tumble to solo fourth position.
Taking up the lead was Sepp Straka. The Austrian became the latest University of Georgia Bulldog to win a title on the PGA Tour. Straka watched as Ireland’s Shane Lowry reached nine-under for the week at the 11th, then stalled. Birdies at 14, 16, and 18 lifted Straka to 10-under par, enough for a one-shot win over Lowry. Kurt Kitayama, the day-one leader with 64, rebounded from Saturday struggles with a birdie at the 72nd hole. That four was enough to lift him past Berger, into third position.

Tour Champions: Cologuard Classic
MAJ must have had a talk with himself, along these lines: Bernhard is not going away, so I must do something outlandish to distance myself from him. After Tour Champions win #43 last week, the German was in position for win #44. He finished at minus-14, tied with Woody Austin. Both played remarkable golf, but Jiménez? Well, he did two outlandish things. He made an ace at the 7th hole on Friday, on his way to the clubhouse lead.
On Saturday, the Andalusian posted 67 to preserve his lead. On Sunday, Jiménez cast off all doubts with a second ace, this time on the 14th hole. His closing 65 earned him a four-shot advantage over the runners-up, worth a second title of 2022, and 12th overall on PGA Tour Champions. The Dominican transplant (he now calls Casa de Campo home) added an eagle at the second and four birdies to his card on Sunday, to keep Langer and Austin at bay.

Asian Tour: Royal’s Cup goes to Taiwan’s Chan
The Royal’s Cup concluded on Sunday, after four electrifying rounds. Sadom Kaewkanjana posted 66 and two 67s, then closed with 68. Sihwan Kim signed for 67-65-66, then finished with 70 on day four. He tied Kaewkanjana for second position, three shots clear of the duo tied for fourth. The top spot at the Grand Prix Golf Club in Thailand was earned by Chan Shih-chang, who closed with 68, after opening 64-66-67. His 19-under par total of 198 pushed him one shot past Kim, into the trophy’s embrace.
Chan seemed to make nearly every number on the week, including both six and one on Friday. After turning in 37, the Taiwanese titan posted 29 on the inward half, thanks in part to an Ace-Par-Eagle finish. On day three, if not for his putter, Chan would have run away with the title. Despite hitting 17 of 18 greens in regulation, others stayed close as the birdie putts would not drop. Bogey at the 11th gave hope to the chasers, but Chan steadied himself and played two-under golf over the closing seven holes.
On Sunday, it was Chan who played like the hunter. His 68 was more than enough to preserve a three-shot advantage over the runners-up, earning him a coveted victory. Kim stood tied with Chan after nine holes on day four, but ran into a quartet of bogeys that removed him from title contention.

Why Golf: Putting Thing

When it comes to practice, it is good to have a purpose. This “Putting Thing” sure does it. We know from personal experience how challenging it can be and how rewarding it is on the practice green. This also provides some competition for your kiddo to see who will unload the dishwasher or do the next chore around the house.
OluKai Lae‘ahi Men’s Breathable Slip-On Shoes

Riding to and from the course in style and comfort is always a good thing. If you’re in a hurry, it’s a nice feature to slide into your shoes and get to the tee time. For the post-game shoe, at your locker or while putting your clubs away in the car. Nice to slide into a shoe that looks good anywhere. Pair that with meeting the family for dinner, no need to change!
Therabody Theragun Relief

A little wellness goes a long way. Keeping loose is a good way to go when it comes to the weekend game or treatment during the week. If there is a little ache or pain, the Theragun is there to help out. Help loosen up the back for a pre-game warm-up or cool-down.
