Report: Top PGA Tour players will each earn 8-figures per year by 2025

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan is introducing a new business plan that will reward the top PGA Tour players, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

This comes in the wake of the news of the Saudi golf league starting to fall apart, with many of the game’s biggest stars speaking out against it.

Phil Mickelson made comments that were extremely critical of the PGA Tour, and a handful of golfers came to the Tour’s defense. The most recent golfer to comment was Rory McIlroy:

“I don’t want to kick someone while he’s down obviously, but I thought they [Mickelson’s comments] were naive, selfish, egotistical, ignorant,” said McIlroy at Riviera this past weekend.

According to Derek Lawrenson of The Mail, Jay Monahan has guaranteed money for the world’s best players on the PGA Tour, thanks in large part to a new $1B television deal.

“He started by ripping up the long-established Tour business plan, instead focusing it squarely on rewarding the youthful set at the head of the game,” writes Lawrenson.

“The plan runs until 2025 and, over the duration, elite players will benefit to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.”

McIlroy, who also acts as chairman of the PGA Tour Player Advisory Council, told The Mail: “I’m not at liberty to share the details but let’s just say that anyone who plays well over the next few years is going to get seriously rich.”

Per the report, in addition to the PIP money that was added last year, the Tour is also adding a $20 million bonus pool for golfers who finish inside the top 10 in the money list at season’s end.

The FedEx Cup Playoffs will also see an increase in prize money, where the winner at the Tour Championship will now receive $18 million. It is being reported that the winner of the FedEx Cup will receive at least $25 million by 2025.

Monahan will also introduce three new limited field tournaments to begin on the PGA Tour in 2023, each of which will offer a “significant seven-figure amount of guaranteed money” to the best players in that circuit.

“By 2025, someone could be making $50 million in prize money per year and every member of the top 10 will comfortably make eight figures,” Lawrenson said.

In our forums, one user is asking for thoughts on the best stock shafts offered in 2026. Stock shafts are the shafts included with a club when it’s purchased from retailers or OEMs.

The last couple years has seen a lot of updates and additions to no upcharge stock shafts, which do you think is the best offering in 2026?

Im a bit of a shaft nerd and recently during my Members Testing with the Callaway Quantum Triple Diamond I found the updated Project X Denali Frost Black to be a fantastic stock shaft. I absolutely did not mesh well with the original Denali. Just curious what other people think are the current best Stock shaft offerings out with new models and stock Ventus options and LinQ options popping up here and there.

We were given the option for any stock shafts for our members review. I went with the 70g Black Frost 6.5 because it’s a shaft I don’t have, it’s an updated version of the original Denali and hear little about. I typically use a Diamana WB, GD VF or a HOF Raptor. I’m not saying it was neck and neck with any of those but it was a pleasant surprise I’m not accustomed to in stock shaft offerings.

CTG77: “Undoubtedly, it’s the Tensei 1K RIP shafts from Titleist. The Tensei line gives about 98% of the performance of a Ventus VeloCore+ shaft at a tiny fraction of the cost if you’re looking for a blue or red profile. The white is not an exact match for Ventus Black, but it’s closer to it than the non-VeloCore+ Ventus shafts that come from Callaway or formerly came from TaylorMade.”
