U.S. Open Tour Truck Report: Wednesday

We are on the eve of what could be the most challenging U.S. Open in some time—one which some are saying could see a winning total higher than Geoff Ogilvy’s 5-over winning total of 2006 at Winged Foot.

Players are in their final preparations for tomorrow’s first round. Many practiced a bit and took a rest day, some grinded through trying to find it.

On most Wednesdays before a major, the trucks are quiet—the routine for reps is to be there until around lunchtime and slowly pack up and head out.

Even so, there were however a few last-minute tweaks of note

Tiger Woods put a TaylorMade P790 UDI 2-iron in the bag (5-wood out). True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shaft (39.5, D4, 18).

Dustin Johnson will have his SIM Max 7-wood in play, despite positive testing with the SIM DHY. His 7-wood has a Project X HZURDUS Black 95 6.5 shaft.

Xander Schauffele added .5 degrees of loft to his Callaway Mavrik Sub Zero Triple Diamond driver to bump up the launch and spin a bit for more control into these tight fairways.

Corey Conners had a brand new Ping G400 3-wood (14.5 @ 14) built. Project X HZRDUS Black 75 6.5 shaft.

Phil Mickelson moved the heavier weight in his Callaway Mavrik Sub Zero to the back of the driver to increase MOI a bit helping him square the face. The 9-degree driver is equipped with a KBS TD 70 C5 TX shaft.
