Think this was Tiger’s best shot of 2018? He does.

Published

on

It has been an extraordinary year for Tiger Woods. Nobody knew what to expect from the 14-time major champion on his comeback from spinal fusion surgery, not even himself. But Woods performed brilliantly throughout 2018, before bagging his first victory on the PGA Tour in five years, at the Tour Championship in September.

Along the way, Woods has hit a plethora of phenomenal shots, and he was today asked at a pre-tournament press conference for the Hero World Challenge what he considers to be the most remarkable shot that he has hit this year and why. The 80-time winner on the PGA Tour didn’t need too much time to think about his answer to the question, having one moment in particular on his mind.

“The shot I hit down 10 at the Open Championship out of that bunker, I thought that, ‘This is the tournament. I win the Open Championship or I lose the Open Championship on this shot.’ If it clips the bunker, I lose. If it comes out, I’m going to go ahead and win this thing.

You saw the speed I put into it and the shot I hit. To be able to pull that off knowing that I hadn’t done this for a very long time and this is the moment … that gave me a lot of confidence going forward.”

Here is the shot that Woods is talking about, and although after pulling it off he didn’t go onto win the event, I think we can all agree that it was one hell of a shot.

So GolfWRXers, after a memorable comeback year for Woods, what shot do you consider to be his best of 2018?

No, but it was definitely his most egotistical one – listen to him talk about it tell you everything you want to know, that he wishes he could be like Brooks: white, good looking, ripped and with a beautiful model lady

Must be a slow golf news day.
I realize this guy moves the needle, but it would be refreshing to read about what a creep this guy really is – amazing how he gets a pass for all of his aberrant behavior in the past, along with the fact that he really is just not a good person.
Write/talk about his past achievements in golf – but stop making him out to be this great ambassador for the game – takes good character for that – something he does not have.

If he say it was, then it was.

The iron shot to #15 in the final round of the PGA wasn’t too bad either.

A reminder from your friends at GolfWRX: Father’s Day is June 21. And as we do every year, we’re rounding up the best gifts for dad.

As we say every year, there’s no better golf-related Father’s Day gift than a round of golf with pops. Be it a country club or your favorite muni, take the time to get together to play 18 if you can.

Let’s get to the gifts.

We like the new polos that Ghost is offering, as the fabric and fit are so good. These new Qualifier Collection polos breathe well, are lightweight, stretch with your swing, and of course look great. You can wear them on the course, in the office, or just out at a casual event and they will fit right in.

When it comes to practice, it is good to have a purpose. This “Putting Thing” sure does it. We know from personal experience how challenging it can be and how rewarding it is on the practice green. This also provides some competition for your kiddo to see who will unload the dishwasher or do the next chore around the house.

With the PGA Tour across the border in Canada this week, GolfWRX Tour Photographer Greg Moore stayed stateside and headed to the OccuNet Classic presented by Amarillo National Bank in Amarillo, Texas.

It’s always interesting to see what the guys are playing on the KFT, and this week certainly hasn’t disappointed so far, with some incredible wedge stamping on display.

At GolfWRX, we are a community of like-minded individuals who all experience and express our enjoyment of the game in many ways.

It’s that sense of community that drives day-to-day interactions in the forums on topics that range from best driver to what marker you use to mark your ball. It even allows us to share another thing we all love – buying and selling equipment.

Currently, in our GolfWRX buy/sell/trade (BST) forum, @HuskerFlyer is sharing a Scotty Cameron GOLO with a BGT Stability Tour2 2022 M Edition shaft. While the putter is certainly enviable, the Augusta-inspired shaft is equally noteworthy.
