Forum Thread of the Day: GolfWRX Members love this golf bag

Published

on

Today’s Forum Thread of the Day comes from Steelhead, who gave us a close look at his new Jones Trouper golf bag, and just like Steelhead, many of our members have been seriously impressed. The thread features plenty of in-hand photos of the new bags, and though many of our members have already dived in and ordered one for themselves, with Black Friday fast approaching, lots have been waiting for this week to get their hands on one.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say on the new golf bags at the link below.

  • Blink3665: “I’ve been lurking on this thread since it started.  With the Black Friday sale, I had to jump.  I grabbed a Navy bag with a few extra goodies (If I’m gonna pay for shipping I might as well grab a few other things, right?)”
  • slide13: “I’d say if you want to carry 14 clubs and don’t want a pretty tight fit, give the Trouper a try. I have the Utility, and it’s a cool bag, but I found it a super tight fit and not great with 14 clubs using midsize grips.  Maybe regular grips help.  I still like the bag, and I don’t mind using just 12 clubs or so which helps a little, but I’d still probably have found another solution if it was my main bag.”
  • Dubv23: “As soon as I pulled the trouper out of the box today I knew it was going to be my favorite bag.  It maintains a lot of the Utility styling but adds a lot of the features many wanted. The great thing is it does not make the bag that much bigger.  Its taller from the bottom of the opening to the top but not much wider and very well thought out. The material is different than past utilities, and I would assume it was to shed weight.  It has a hoofer like feel to the fabric but not so much to make it seem like it’s not a Jones bag. The opening is perfect and holds all 14 clubs perfect, the leg mechanism is smooth and much easier to release than the past, and the putter “well” is slick. “
  • mr.hicksta: “After seeing those additional pics, I’m even more excited about getting mine! Jones Golf doesn’t mess around with shipping, either. Mine looks like it’ll arrive on Monday, which is nice and quick from Oregon to Hawaii!”

Slab city on the Korn Ferry Tour — Lead Tape Report

Published

on

This week, we have our Tour Photographer, Greg Moore, on the ground at the OccuNet Classic at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas, for the 14th event of the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour season. With that, we see some great things in the Lead Tape Report as we roll into Amarillo.

Joel Thelen

Monday Qualifier, Joel Thelen is in the field this week. He has played on the Korn Ferry Tour for a full season in 2023, and he is back in action this week. A couple of clubs caught my eye this week in his bag.

First off: His trusted Titleist 816 H2 hybrid. This club came out in October of 2015, and it still remains strong in the bag. Also, take a look at this Odyssey White Hot OG 7, putting a capital S in the 7S model. This custom neck has some impressive lean for an arm-lock-style putter. The bottom of the putter is covered in tape for optimal weighting.

Mitchell Meissner

Taking a look at Mitchell Meissner’s bag this week, we have some great lead tape coverage. Top to bottom working from fairway metals, irons, and wedges. We can see on the short irons and wedges that there is tape at the base of the grip, adding a little counterbalance. Along with that, some tape on the short irons and wedges as well. Moving to his putter, he rolls the Odyssey 7 Bird putter. Meissner putts left-handed and strikes the ball right-handed.
