ICYWW: Patrick Reed is DONE discussing the Ryder Cup

Published

on

Many people are still curious to get to the bottom of what exactly happened in the American camp at the 2018 Ryder Cup, but for Patrick Reed, who was critical of captain Jim Furyk in the aftermath of the event, it’s time to let sleeping dogs lie.

Reed is currently competing in the WGC-HSBC Champions, where after rounds of 64 and 72, he sits T2 and just three shots behind leader Tony Finau. After his round of level par on Friday, a reporter attempted to lure the American into commenting on the fallout from the Ryder Cup, but Reed was having none of it. Instead, Reed stated his intent to win the European Tour’s Race to Dubai, which ends next month.

“Ryder Cup was three, almost four weeks ago. Right now I’m just trying to play great golf and finish off the year right. Because even though the PGA Tour season has now started, for the European Tour, it’s still going on. I’m a little bit behind Francesco (Molinari) in that and I’m hoping to close that gap and have a chance to hopefully win the Race to Dubai.”

Reed then fielded some questions regarding his second round at Sheshan Golf Club, before a journalist made another attempt to draw him into Ryder Cup talk by asking Reed who would be his “perfect partner” for team competitions going forward — a topic Reed had no interest in discussing.

“I don’t know. I don’t even know where I stand on the whole points list (Presidents Cup) or anything like that. Right now I’m just kind of focusing on this week and trying to get through the season. So you know, I have this week, Dubai, Hong Kong and Tiger’s event left for the season. You know, for how long of a year it’s been, I’m just wanting to finish the year off right and finish the year off strong so I can have a fun little off-season.”

Reed sits third in the Race to Dubai and is the only American with a legitimate opportunity to win the European Tour money list. The world No. 15 currently trails Francesco Molinari and Tommy Fleetwood in the race, the two men who were his foes at Le Golf National.

Currently, in our GolfWRX buy/sell/trade (BST) forum, @HuskerFlyer is sharing a Scotty Cameron GOLO with a BGT Stability Tour2 2022 M Edition shaft. While the putter is certainly enviable, the Augusta-inspired shaft is equally noteworthy.
