While I can usually tolerate Michael Williams’ ego-centric podcast (he only says his name about 20 times during the podcast; hey.. we KNOW IT’S YOU, okay?) this one takes the cake for sheer boredom. While plugging various venues where he knows he’ll be able to beg a freebie, Williams moves MILES from golf to wax poetic on the beauty of “shooting sports” and how they supposedly relate to golf. Man, what a stretch. I tried, I really did, but the relentlessly mundane discussion of clay pigeons, skeet and guns finally wore me down. I didn’t even get half-way through. Insomnia? Here’s your answer! Mr. Williams, if whittling down your listenership to less than a dozen is your ultimate goal, then by all means… more of the same.

Club Junkie: Ping i540 irons review + L.A.B. VZN.1i putters and Graphite Design shaft sightings

Published

on

On this episode of Club Junkie, I dive into the brand-new Ping i540 irons and talk about where they fit in the lineup, their performance on the course, and who I think they are really made for. There is a lot to love — and maybe one complaint in the new i540 irons.

The show also covers the new L.A.B. VZN.1i putters that have started showing up, plus some new Graphite Design Tour AD shafts spotted out on the PGA Tour and what makes them interesting. Wrapping things up, I might swap a few shafts into some putters and talk through how those changes might completely alter feel and performance.
