Wilson “Driver vs. Driver 2” judges announced (2018 PGA Show Demo Day)

Published

on

Driver vs. Driver, the driver-designing reality show that produced the Wilson Triton in 2016, is back for a second season with all new judges.

The judges this time around are Jeremy Roenick, a hockey legend and golf fanatic, Rick Shiels, a teaching professional, popular golf-equipment YouTuber and GolfWRX contributor, and Tim Clarke, Wilson Golf’s president. Melanie Collins will return as the host.

The show is set to air this fall, according to Wilson’s twitter account.

The “on-deck circle” for Wilson prototype driver testing

At the PGA Show Demo Day, we’re told they were shooting part of episode 3, and real golfers were hitting some of the prototype drivers that will be featured on season 2, then giving their feedback to show contestants and Wilson engineers.

Of course, all of the participants in this test had to sign a bevy of NDAs, and no photography was allowed during testing and/or filming. But we’ll look forward to seeing the coverage of the event this fall, and we’ll get in-hand photos as soon as legally possible.

Why didn’t Wilson just buy Taylormade when they had the chance? That would have solved all the problems!!!! And TM went for cheap! Wilson has money from the other sports making it for them. Dumb move. Really not very smart people working for their golf department

Wilson is owned by a Finnish company and they don’t have nearly close to that much money. Plus, why? Wilson makes great products already. They just don’t have the marketing staff that TM has.

I agree. There is no way that an amateur designer has the the knowledge to come up with a maximized design. Why din’t an amateur come up with the jail break technology? Wilson should have the top handful of designs work closer with their engineers earlier in the process. Maybe they can get something that is truly revolutionary.

Shiels should be good to watch.

A reminder from your friends at GolfWRX: Father’s Day is June 21. And as we do every year, we’re rounding up the best gifts for dad.

As we say every year, there’s no better golf-related Father’s Day gift than a round of golf with pops. Be it a country club or your favorite muni, take the time to get together to play 18 if you can.

Let’s get to the gifts.

Ghost Golf Qualifier Diamond Polo

We like the new polos that Ghost is offering, as the fabric and fit are so good. These new Qualifier Collection polos breathe well, are lightweight, stretch with your swing, and of course look great. You can wear them on the course, in the office, or just out at a casual event and they will fit right in.

Why Golf: Putting Thing

When it comes to practice, it is good to have a purpose. This “Putting Thing” sure does it. We know from personal experience how challenging it can be and how rewarding it is on the practice green. This also provides some competition for your kiddo to see who will unload the dishwasher or do the next chore around the house.

Currently, in our GolfWRX buy/sell/trade (BST) forum, @HuskerFlyer is sharing a Scotty Cameron GOLO with a BGT Stability Tour2 2022 M Edition shaft. While the putter is certainly enviable, the Augusta-inspired shaft is equally noteworthy.
