Kenny Perry Handed Playoff Win at Deere Classic
The day started with three players tied atop the leaderboard. Eighteen holes later three players were still tied atop that same leaderboard. Off to a playoff went Kenny Perry, Jay Williamson. and Brad Adamonis. With the honors Mr. Adamonis hit his tee shot into the trees on the right, while Mr. Williamson and Mr. Perry found the fairway. As Mr. Adamonis prepared to hit his second shot his caddy said “if you’ve got the shot then go with it”, not exactly the positive note of conviction
As Mr. Adamonis prepared to hit his second shot his caddy said "if you’ve got the shot then go with it", not exactly the positive note of conviction. Rather than pitch out and hit a wedge to the green, he elected to try and hit between the trees, starting the ball at the water to the left of the green and fading it back onto the green. Almost pulled it off too, another foot right and Mr. Adamonis is putting for birdie. Instead bogey was the best he could do after that almost. Mr. Williamson followed with a miss into the water instead of to the right where he’d have a chance at saving par.
Welcome to your third win of the year Mr. Perry! Congratulations to the hottest guy in golf. From the modest goal of making this years Ryder Cup team to the number 2 position in the FedEx standings is quite a leap. Who knew a 47 year old white guy could jump so well? This despite hitting three chip shots, two on the 18th hole, that make my short game look stellar. I wondered when the playoff began how well Mr.Perry would recover from kicking away a victory. But when the two guys you’re playing against dunk their second shots, that ceases to be an issue.
No demeaning this third victory in five tournaments, Mr. Perry has played lights out for most of the season. Well enough to make us forget some guy named Woods, well …. almost.
As for the other two players, Mr Williamson qualified for the British Open. “To play the British Open, I don’t think that has quite sunk in yet,” Williamson said. “I am blinded by the playoff. To go play the British Open, I mean, I never thought that would happen to me.” Who indeed. Pack your bags, grab the clubs and hop on that charter airplane provided by Mark Cuban. Yes that Mark Cuban, the guy who made a fortune broadcasting sporting events at the start of the internet and owns the Dallas Mavericks. I’ve heard it’s just a little better than flying commercial. Uh huh.
Mr. Adamonis, the oldest rookie on Tour, “I know there was a chance to win,” he said. “I was like, ‘Wow, this is pretty awesome.’ I didn’t hit a very good putt, but maybe next time.” Just happy to be on the same course thanks much and how much did you say that check was I just won? No attitude here, which makes me a fan going forward.
Unlike Mr. Williamson, Mr Perry will not be headed to Royal Birkdale and The Open Championship. Rather it’s off to Milwaukee and the US Bank Championship. The folks in Wisconsin will be excited to see the hottest player on Tour up close and in person.

GolfWRX’s Father’s Day Gift Guide (2026)
A reminder from your friends at GolfWRX: Father’s Day is June 21. And as we do every year, we’re rounding up the best gifts for dad.
As we say every year, there’s no better golf-related Father’s Day gift than a round of golf with pops. Be it a country club or your favorite muni, take the time to get together to play 18 if you can.
Let’s get to the gifts.
Ghost Golf Qualifier Diamond Polo

We like the new polos that Ghost is offering, as the fabric and fit are so good. These new Qualifier Collection polos breathe well, are lightweight, stretch with your swing, and of course look great. You can wear them on the course, in the office, or just out at a casual event and they will fit right in.
STR8-Strip Grip Tape Remover

If your dad is an equipment aficionado and tinkers with his clubs, this tool works wonders. Removing grip tape has never been easier, just put a little head on the tape and the STR8-Strip peals it right off the shaft without any damage.
Why Golf: Putting Thing

When it comes to practice, it is good to have a purpose. This “Putting Thing” sure does it. We know from personal experience how challenging it can be and how rewarding it is on the practice green. This also provides some competition for your kiddo to see who will unload the dishwasher or do the next chore around the house.
OluKai Lae‘ahi Men’s Breathable Slip-On Shoes

Riding to and from the course in style and comfort is always a good thing. If you’re in a hurry, it’s a nice feature to slide into your shoes and get to the tee time. For the post-game shoe, at your locker or while putting your clubs away in the car. Nice to slide into a shoe that looks good anywhere. Pair that with meeting the family for dinner, no need to change!
Therabody Theragun Relief

A little wellness goes a long way. Keeping loose is a good way to go when it comes to the weekend game or treatment during the week. If there is a little ache or pain, the Theragun is there to help out. Help loosen up the back for a pre-game warm-up or cool-down.
World Cup golf apparel

Something for the soccer dads. Embrace the World Cup fever this summer on the course with custom gear to support the nation of your choice.
FootJoy Pro SL spikeless golf shoes

Give the old man a break and save his feet with the Footjoy Pro SL Men’s Spikeless Golf Shoes for some added comfort on the course.
Bushnell Wingman 2 GPS speaker

Combine all the hits as well as some game improvement with the Wingman 2 Golf GPS Speaker by getting audible distance readings from 38,000+ courses worldwide through the Wingman 2 remote or speaker.
Personalized Titleist Pro V1 golf balls

The No. 1 ball in golf is a safe bet, and the Pro V1 fits the largest chunk of the bell curve if you don’t know what ball pops plays. Add personalization for a, well, personal touch!

With the PGA Tour across the border in Canada this week, GolfWRX Tour Photographer Greg Moore stayed stateside and headed to the OccuNet Classic presented by Amarillo National Bank in Amarillo, Texas.
It’s always interesting to see what the guys are playing on the KFT, and this week certainly hasn’t disappointed so far, with some incredible wedge stamping on display.

What a comical ending. I was laughing my head off and I’m sure Perry was laughing inside too. No contest in that playoff, maybe next time fellas.
