Callaway loading up, signs Patrick Rodgers to equipment deal

After signing Daniel Berger to its staff on Wednesday, Callaway announced on Thursday that it has also signed 24-year-old Patrick Rodgers, who has proven throughout his career that he knows how to win.

During his three years on the Stanford University Men’s Golf Team, Patrick Rodgers tied Tiger Woods’ record of 11 collegiate victories, and was the No. 1-ranked amateur in the world in 2014. He has since turned professional, won the 2015 Web.com Pacific Rubiales Colombia Championship, and graduated from the Web.com Tour and earned a full-time PGA Tour card; his best finish is a T3 at the 2016 Travelers Championship.

The former Nike staffer will use Callaway clubs, golf balls, and an Odyssey Putter in 2017.

“I’ve been amazed in testing and playing Callaway equipment, and I know these are the best clubs to help me compete and take my game to the next level on Tour,” Rodgers said in a Callaway press release. “I can’t wait to get this season going and off to a great start.”

In 2016, Rodgers was 26th in driving distance, averaging 300.5 yards for the year on the PGA Tour. Callaway hasn’t publicized what driver he will play in 2017, but we’ll be the first to provide in-hand pictures of his new equipment.

For now, check out the clubs Rodgers used in his most recent start in 2016, which included a number of Callaway clubs.

He played on the Hawaii Pacific University Men's Golf team and earned a Masters degree in Communications. He also played college golf at Rutgers University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.

Seems like a great guy with a huge future ahead of him. Great sign for Callaway, and hopefully both can be successful together.

With the PGA Tour across the border in Canada this week, GolfWRX Tour Photographer Greg Moore stayed stateside and headed to the OccuNet Classic presented by Amarillo National Bank in Amarillo, Texas.

It’s always interesting to see what the guys are playing on the KFT, and this week certainly hasn’t disappointed so far, with some incredible wedge stamping on display.
