Henrik Stenson is launching a performance eyewear collection

Published

on

If you’ve ever seen Henrik Stenson on the golf course, you’re abundantly aware the man likes his sunglasses. Nicknamed “the Terminator,” a key part of the methodical Swede’s T-800 look are his shades.

Now, Stenson is launching his own eyewear brand designed specifically for golfers. And even better for golf fans attending the PGA Merchandise Show (Jan. 25-27), Henrik Stenson Eyewear will debut at golf’s annual equipment spectacular.

According to a press release, Stenson favors the wrap-around sunglass design due to allergies and a sensitivity to sunlight. After years of experimenting with lens types, Stenson felt he could share his knowledge with golfers.

“I know how important it is to protect your eyes by wearing sunglasses that are suited to the task,” Stenson said. “Playing golf means exposure to hazardous sunlight and reflections for hours at a time so eye protection is essential, especially for children. With this in mind, we are also developing a special performance collection designed specifically for junior players.”

“For your protection and performance” is the company’s motto, and the reigning Champion Golfer of the Year is directly involved in product development. Stenson was instrumental in development of “Powereye” — a special lens technology for performance eyewear.

The Powereye lens provides protection from both blue light and UV radiation, in addition to cutting glare and other optical interference, which helps reduce eye fatigue. And perhaps more important to golfers, the lens technology enhances contrast, making fairways and greens appear more distinctly while maintaining a natural color balance.

In addition to the Performance line for golfers, HSE is launching a “Street” collection of sunglass styles for off-course wear.

According to the company, retail sales at selected outlets will being in early 2017. Check out the newly launched Henrik Stenson Eyewear website for more information.

As long as Luxottica does not have a hand in this I will be interested to see what they come out with. My Maui Jims with the green lens are the best I could find for the course so far. Oakley has garbage quality

As a guy who likes to wear a more traditional baseball hat, not the Rickie Fowler, I’m still waiting for a eyewear manufacturers to find a way to make a pair r that are comfortable and fit under my hat.

I know he wore them but if I recall correctly, he wasn’t sponsored by Oakley.
