10 golf-related Instagram accounts every golf lover should follow
For us golf addicts, there aren’t many days of the week where we don’t wish we could temporarily forget about the obligations of the real world (work, school, errands) and get out onto the course. Sadly, until the day on the calendar begins with S or the clock strikes 5 P.M., these obligations usually take priority over golf. That doesn’t mean you can’t still get your golf fix in other ways, however.
Here’s an incomplete list of 10 Instagram profiles every golf lover should follow.
1. Channing Benjamin
- A true innovator in the field of golf photography, Channing Benjamin captures some of California’s finest courses. From Tom Fazio’s desert oasis, Madison Club, to Dr. Mackenzie’s masterpiece in Monterey, the Cypress Point Club, Benjamin is an absolute must follow.
2. Sugarloaf Social Club
- An unofficial country club of sorts with one common factor in members: a love of the culture and traditions of golf. From classic course architecture to bespoke golf accessories, “SSC” is another great follow.
3. GolfCourseGram
- For those with a penchant for the history of the game, as well as classic course architecture, there are few better profiles than GolfCourseGram.
4. Imperial Hats
- Enough said. Arguably the best unstructured hats and tour visors ever known to the world of golf.
5. Mike Seidl Photography
- Another golf architecture and landscape profile. Sense a trend?
6. GolfWRX
- This story wouldn’t be complete without a plug of every gear head’s favorite Instagram account. If you love GolfWRX, you’ll love our Instagram.
7. Golf Threads Blog
- Finally, a break from the course architecture trend. Check out this profile for the latest in golf apparel and style.
8. Kevin Tway
- A frequent social media poster, Kevin Tway gives a good look inside the ropes week to week on Tour. Plus, have you ever seen someone hit a golf ball this hard?
9. Bluegrass Fairway
- Beautiful made-in-America golf accessories, primarily leather products.
10. Bryson Dechambeau
- After last week’s Omega Desert Challenge, touring professional Edouardo Molinari took to Twitter to declare Dechambeau, “One of the best players I’ve ever seen.” Plus, you won’t find many other players with a more unique practice regimen.

AVL: My U.S. Amateur local qualifying experience
This past Monday, I played in the U.S. Amateur local qualifier at Rock Creek Country Club in Portland, Oregon. A full tee sheet from 7:30 a.m. to 1:55 p.m., the top 11 scores would make it to the U.S. Amateur final qualifying.
I teed off at 10:48 a.m.. With the 7:30 am tee time, you can get a feel for the leaders’ pace, and they were off and running on the challenging setup at Rock Creek.

Getting to the highlight of the round on the par five 17th, a drive up the left side and 212 yards left to the front hole location. I took out a 5-iron with plans of middle of the green. The ball ended up 8 feet left of the hole, pin high. A slight downhill putt dropped in for an eagle 3 on the 17th. With the cut line looking to be anywhere from -2 to even par. This was the boost I had been waiting for all day.
With making par from the trees on 18, it was time to wait for a potential playoff with a posted score of one under par 71.
Three hours later, it was playoff time. 8 players for 6 spots. I made par on the playoff hole, which was good enough to advance to the U.S. Amateur final qualifying in July. USGA qualifiers sure deliver on all of the emotions in golf!
