2010 PGA Merchandise Show Preview

Published

on

Old on to your keyboards golf fans – it’s time for the 2010 PGA Merchandise Show!  The Orange County Convention Center in Orlando will be the forum for this event from January 28 – 30, 2010.  To many of us the pictures taken by the GolfWRX crew is like looking at, ahem, questionable material.  This year will be no exception – the WRX Crew will be snapping away and uploading for your viewing enjoyment.

This year promises to be as interesting and exciting as any.  Exhibitors include a variety of companies such as Bridgestone, Cleveland/Srixon, Nancy Lopez Golf, Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Cobra, Fourteen Golf, aboutGolf, PING, Puma, Oban Shafts and many more.  Many, many, many more!  Here’s a sampling of some press release pieces of what we know will be there:

JOHN LETTERS TO DEBUT AT PGA MERCHANDISE SHOW

With 92 years of club making history in golf, John Letters of Scotland is delighted to announce they will be exhibiting at the 2010 PGA Merchandise Show for the first time. The Scottish brand renowned globally for producing golf equipment of the highest quality since 1918 will be showcasing their latest range of performance. Golf professionals such as Fred Daly, Dai Rees, Gary Player, Lee Trevino, Sam Torrance, Cathy Panton, Bernard Gallacher and Paul Lawrie have been playing and winning with their clubs on tour over the course of their 92 year history.

ROBOCUP RETURNS TO 2010 PGA MERCHANDISE SHOW IN ORLANDO

Fine Tune Golf has announced that they will participate in this year’s PGA Merchandise Show, returning with their “Best New Product, 2009” – the RoboCup. Designed exclusively for avid golfers, RoboCup empowers consumers to focus on their practice; saving them time, their backs and bringing the fun back to putting.  RoboCup is the only ball return device designed to work on every practice green with a practice or full-depth cup. When a putt drops into the hole, RoboCup’s innovative design automatically shoots the ball right back.

FOURTEEN GOLF TO REVEAL ITS NEW MT-28 V5 WEDGE AT THE 2010 PGA MERCHANDISE SHOW

FOURTEEN GOLF announced that the company plans to introduce their new MT-28 V5 at the upcoming PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, FL.  The new MT-28 V5 represents a long legacy of winning wedges. Its predecessor, the MT-29 V4 is known on several professional Tours as the “go to club” or the “money maker.” Its exceptional performance has positioned FOURTEEN as the wedge authority.

This classically designed wedge features the signature FOURTEEN “reverse taper design” but has been improved by adding a groove strategically located in between the club sole and blade portion of the wedge. This structural change allowed the engineers to move the CG to a higher more stabilizing position for more precise shots.  The sole of the MT-28 V5 possesses a flatter shape with a trailing edge and heel relief. This new dynamic combination allows any player to fully utilize the club’s bounce and execute pure or solid shots out of any type of rough.

Graphite Design to Participate in the 2010 PGA Merchandise Show and Demo Day

Graphite Design’s full line of products will be displayed and attendees will have the opportunity to check out the latest products including the new Tour AD DI shafts and the popular AURA shafts.

Designed to provide more power and stability, the Tour AD DI shaft, manufactured exclusively at Graphite Design Japan, has been integrated with Toray Company’s new Nanotechnology material in the tip section of the shaft.  This unique tip technology creates optimal launch and spin conditions to produce increased accuracy and distance. The shaft made its debut on the major Tours in the fall of 2009 and has already been put in play in competition by numerous professional golfers. Tour players have been impressed by the fact that when using the Tour AD DI shaft they can increase ball speed and accuracy without giving up distance.

AURA shafts are available in four different “aura” colors based on the performance needs of both professional and amateur golfers. Options include RED for the long hitter who uses the professional tees; GOLD for the better player who tees off on the championship tees; BLUE for the shot maker hitting off the men’s tees, and GREEN for golfers hitting off the women tees. Swing speeds for each flex are displayed on the shaft.

STX CONFIRMS IT WILL EXHIBIT AT 2010 PGA merchandise SHOW

STX, known for its patented Soft Face Insert Technology, announced that the company will be exhibiting at the 2010 PGA Merchandise Show.  STX will introduce its new ProFIT 6 mallet putter, a striking modern mallet with angular lines. It is the latest STX putter introduction from their popular ProFIT™ Series. STX introduced the ProFIT series of interchangeable insert putters in the late 90’s and now their design team has developed several highly engineered putters that feature both interchangeable inserts and weights.

Of course, this is not an exhaustive list whatsoever.  The WRX crew will be updating the forums and Bag Chatter with all of the information that you can possibly stand.  Let us know what you want to see!

Most birdies without breaking par – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, one user is wondering how many birdies other players have had in a round while still failing to break par. @Lalan45, unfortunately, asked the question after a unique experience of their own.

They wrote:

“Today I managed 8 birdies but still shot even par, could have been a round to remember! What’s the most birdies you’ve made in a round and still didn’t break par?”

Our members in the forum shared their own experiences with successful rounds that still resulted in a score over par. Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • kwcsports: “I’ve had 5 a few times, still shot 80+ haha.”
  • jda: “I played a course for the first time, had 8 birdies, 9 doubles and an eagle. The infamous no-par round. I kept the scorecard. Every shot had a creek that I did not know about, or I was within 8-10 feet for a birdie look. To this day, I have no idea if I should be really jacked up or mad about that performance.”
  • jvincent: “I think my record is either 5 or 6. Probably shot 75.”
  • Instron4204: “3 birdies and shot a 92…man I suck!”

Best current stock shaft 2026 – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, one user is asking for thoughts on the best stock shafts offered in 2026. Stock shafts are the shafts included with a club when it’s purchased from retailers or OEMs.

@DTorres asked:

The last couple years has seen a lot of updates and additions to no upcharge stock shafts, which do you think is the best offering in 2026?

Im a bit of a shaft nerd and recently during my Members Testing with the Callaway Quantum Triple Diamond I found the updated Project X Denali Frost Black to be a fantastic stock shaft. I absolutely did not mesh well with the original Denali. Just curious what other people think are the current best Stock shaft offerings out with new models and stock Ventus options and LinQ options popping up here and there.

We were given the option for any stock shafts for our members review. I went with the 70g Black Frost 6.5 because it’s a shaft I don’t have, it’s an updated version of the original Denali and hear little about. I typically use a Diamana WB, GD VF or a HOF Raptor. I’m not saying it was neck and neck with any of those but it was a pleasant surprise I’m not accustomed to in stock shaft offerings.

Our members in the forum have been offering up their own thoughts on the best stock shafts available in 2026. Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • rsballer10: “IMO – MCA Ka’ili White Darkwave, Tensei 1k Black/white, UST Lin-Q White. People are free to spend their money however they see fit, but for me personally the shaft catalogs these days have enough options that I don’t see the value of a $400 upcharge. I have never had a problem finding a no upcharge shaft that fits the bend profile and weight that I need. Whether the paint job is good enough or not is above my pay scale.”
  • bcflyguy1: “Project X Titan Black. I’ve had one in 60TX in my Quantum TD Max for several weeks now. Have to give Titlieist their flowers for finding a way to make it available as a featured option; very shrewd bit of business and one that I suspect will be duplicated by the other companies. TT/PX have a certified banger on their hands with Titan.”
  • CTG77: “Undoubtedly, it’s the Tensei 1K RIP shafts from Titleist. The Tensei line gives about 98% of the performance of a Ventus VeloCore+ shaft at a tiny fraction of the cost if you’re looking for a blue or red profile. The white is not an exact match for Ventus Black, but it’s closer to it than the non-VeloCore+ Ventus shafts that come from Callaway or formerly came from TaylorMade.”
