17 revealing photos from the RBC Heritage

Published

on

GolfWRX was live this week from the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links, with photos of the latest equipment and apparel out on Tour. If you missed them, click here.

This week, Callaway players tested a new “Bertha Mini 1.5” prototype, Tour Edge Exotics showed off its yet-to-be-announced CB Pro U prototype hybrid and Ryo Ishikawa rocked pink flamingo pants. Here’s what else stood out at the RBC Heritage.

Kuchar’s Tartan Plaid Golf Shoes

3bfb6dbc8e0be0e8f1b225428aafbf9e

The winner of the Heritage is awarded a traditional Tartan Plaid jacket, which Matt Kuchar won last year. This year, he showed up wearing custom Skechers Go Golf Pro shoes with Tartan Plaid designs.

They say you shouldn’t wear the shirt of the band you’re going to see, and the saying applies here. You probably shouldn’t wear the same plaid design of the jacket you’re trying to win, but these are pretty cool regardless.

Hudson Swafford needs a new Dawg

7ed1c30a0ef539ea7965c35a89492e29

Surely there’s some sentimental value in his Georgia Bulldog head cover, but this one’s eyes appear to have fallen off. There’s a seeing eye dawg joke in here somewhere.

Callaway has a new club called “Bertha Mini 1.5”

c237bf145fd555237c6c458b8e434279

And the fact it’s not called “Lil’ Bertha” feels like a slap in the face.

Ryo Ishikawa has pink-flamingo pants

62a165b641cbc142717376087fe41d44

And wears them even when he isn’t on a field trip to the aquarium. Also, is he grilling with a George Foreman while at the range?

Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 2.41.20 PM

Actually, it’s a GC2 launch monitor from ForeSight sports, but the resemblance to a Foreman grill — the savior of convenient cooking — is stunning.

John Peterson’s wedge wants you to make a call

64c2ea8bd2d661aeafe170006314bf55

And the number belongs to a BBQ joint in Baton Rouge, Louisiana called Bacon Rouge. You just can’t make this stuff up.

We continue to hook spectators up with GolfWRX poker chips

And the RBC Heritage has some sweet Tartan Plaid lanyards. Greg (our photo guy), can I have one?

Patrick Reed is testing Callaway’s new Bertha Mini 1.5 prototype

And this is the cleanest application of lead tape I’ve ever seen.

Luke Donald’s bag is wearing soft spikes

948fdbcf520984ef9989f0bd6d2e66b2

And advertises his Twitter account. Maintaining traction and boosting followers… nice.

Thongchai Jaidee is from Thailand

8827d2b3fed551b08fbc9561862427cb

And I know that because of the Thai flag design on his Titleist SM5 wedge. I’m just connecting the dots here people.

Michael Thompson’s golf bag has turbulators

844740721f4f1098e22227bea81bfa07

And his caddy has gained 1-2 mph of walking speed since switching to the new Turbulator Tour bag.

Justin Thomas likes Drake’s song “Right Above It”

563280258299c027e0164a778d16f4c9

Don’t hold it against him. The 21-year-old already has three top-10 finishes this year, and is one of the game’s brightest young stars.

Kevin Stadler is trying out the BioMech AccuLock ACE putter

b6b078af58ab1e635c9d5a718f69eb4f

Which looks a lot like a milled version of a Tech Deck Skate Park half-pipe.

TechDeck

K.J. Choi never stops working out, does he?

df8bd20842c38cb91a9327a3e932b543

And I found the most dangerous place to raise a family of all-time. How many times does that house to the right of the range get hit per day with banana balls when the Tour pros aren’t in town? Over/under 14.5?

Kevin Stadler loves lead tape

f8be833ffb4976bd323d166ce2708ff4

You can tell because his Srixon 945 irons look like a paper lead-tape mache art project.

Zac Blair has “Lazerbeamz” stamped on his Titleist prototype wedge

It could be a reference to multiple things:

Tour Edge Exotics new CB Pro U hybrid

CBproU

With ridges that look like steel bacon strips on its sole for improved turf interaction. Look for it in June.

SuperStroke’s Masters Commemorative putter grip

MastersSuperStrokeIt belongs on 2015 Masters Champion Jordan Spieth’s putter immediately. He already has a SuperStroke Flatso Ultra (Black/midnight) grip on his putter, so why not switch it up to celebrate?

He played on the Hawaii Pacific University Men's Golf team and earned a Masters degree in Communications. He also played college golf at Rutgers University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.

Slab city on the Korn Ferry Tour — Lead Tape Report

Published

on

This week, we have our Tour Photographer, Greg Moore, on the ground at the OccuNet Classic at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas, for the 14th event of the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour season. With that, we see some great things in the Lead Tape Report as we roll into Amarillo.

Joel Thelen

Monday Qualifier, Joel Thelen is in the field this week. He has played on the Korn Ferry Tour for a full season in 2023, and he is back in action this week. A couple of clubs caught my eye this week in his bag.

First off: His trusted Titleist 816 H2 hybrid. This club came out in October of 2015, and it still remains strong in the bag. Also, take a look at this Odyssey White Hot OG 7, putting a capital S in the 7S model. This custom neck has some impressive lean for an arm-lock-style putter. The bottom of the putter is covered in tape for optimal weighting.

Mitchell Meissner

Taking a look at Mitchell Meissner’s bag this week, we have some great lead tape coverage. Top to bottom working from fairway metals, irons, and wedges. We can see on the short irons and wedges that there is tape at the base of the grip, adding a little counterbalance. Along with that, some tape on the short irons and wedges as well. Moving to his putter, he rolls the Odyssey 7 Bird putter. Meissner putts left-handed and strikes the ball right-handed.

Name every set of irons you’ve owned – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, one user has offered up a prompt for the true sickos, inviting fellow forum members to share every set of irons they’ve ever owned. As to be expected, this is a lengthy forum topic.

@Lamosteve began:

Can you name every set of irons you’ve owned? Here’s mine

Spalding Dots
Spalding Eclipse
Ram Lazer FX
Lynx Parallax
Mizuno EZ Comp
Ben Hogans
Cleveland CG Red
Taylor Made R9s
PING i20
PING iE1
Taylor Made M6

Our members in the forum have been offering up their own collections. Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • macedan: “Started with a hand-me-down Golden Bear set from my brother when I was in high school, never really played more than once a year or got into the game until about summer of 2017. First purchased a set of Cleveland CG4’s (I actually really miss this set sometimes, soft & not terribly large for a GI iron), moved into Nike Vapor Fly’s by the end of the year. Those lasted until spring of 18 when I decided I wanted new, so I traded them in for TM Rbladez. Honestly, although I liked the Rbladez, poor decision on my part, I think this was really about the only time so far that after a week or two I was kicking myself for not staying with what I had. Rbladez stayed with me until late last summer when I switched to P790’s and (knock on wood) I am hoping this will be my longest lasting set.”
  • JimmyC59: “MacGregor Jack Nicklaus Triple Crown. Palmer The Standard. Still play these.”
  • jgrzask: “Tommy Armour 845u
    Mizuno MP-32
    Mizuno MP-33 (2 sets)
    Bridgestone J33cb – still own
    Srixon i-302 (2 sets) – still own
    Tourstage X-Blades – still own
Mizuno Hot Metal – still own
Nike Forged Blades – still own
    Titleist 714 AP1 – still own
Cobra Forged SS – still own”

Entire Thread: “Name every set of irons you’ve owned.”
