Woods in Car Crash: Speculation Runs Amok

Tiger Woods was involved in an automobile accident early Friday morning when his Cadillac smacked a fire hydrant and a tree in his neighbor’s yard. From the reports his wife used a golf club to extricate Mr. Woods from the vehicle, and when police arrived on the scene Mr. Woods was on the ground dazed and bleeding from the lips. Apparently he was unconscious for some six minutes after the wreck. The vehicles airbags did not deploy, so he was either going less than 33mph or had faulty equipment. It appears from the published reports that he will make a full recovery physically. Good news on a variety of fronts

It appears from the published reports that he will make a full recovery physically. Good news on a variety of fronts.

At this point the scandal mongers have camped outside the gates to his community and have begun weaving tales of domestic distress, high anxiety, and sultry shenanigans. After all, this is the first time the Woods family has made the tabloids and "real" media outside the sports venue. The last time a professional golfer was involved with a woman whacking his car with a golf club was Nick Faldo, whose Porsche was hammered by disgruntled, nine iron swinging girlfriend Brenna Cepalek after discovering she was joining the ranks of Mr. Faldo's ex companions.

The collection of breath holders, once news about Mr. Woods' accident became public, had to be an impressive group. Tim Finchem, Mark Steinberg, his mom, the folks at Nike and Gatorade, Steve Williams, the entire roster of PGA tour players, along with all his friends. The man is a meal ticket to a lot of folks making concern for his well being important on any number of levels. The longer it takes for the Wood's to make a statement to the authorities, the nuttier the rumors swirling around the crash. Even then I doubt the truth will make a difference, we'll still be seeing the couple on the covers of checkout line rags, right next to the tales of alien abduction and sightings of Elvis and Michael Jackson hanging out at the Dunkin' Donuts just after the first batch of Bavarian Creme filled get placed on the shelf. It's too bad there's nothing important happening in the world, but hey when you live in quiet, uninteresting times, examining the lives of others helps pass the time.
