Tiger markets his new course with cargo pants

Published

on

Tiger’s smarter than we all give him credit for.

After we called for a Tiger Woods’ fashion intervention, it’s become obvious that Woods is not only trolling Twitter, the golf media and fashionistas everywhere to get a rise, but he’s using his duds as a marketing tool.

Brown cargo pants with a white belt standing on top of a rock wall whilst perusing a blueprint? Real clever, Tiger, you almost had us.

Tiger_3
Woods was spotted at the site of the El Cardonal course — Woods’ debut course design — at Diamante in San Lucas, Mexico, which is set to open on December 16

Just days after starting to hit full shots again, this photo resurfaced showing Woods on a rock wall surveying the property. He clearly pulled the old “dress savagely awful to get everyone talking about me to create buzz around my first course design” move. Savvy marketing at its finest, especially with all the criticism of his jean-selection of late. Don Draper would golf clap the effort.

He played on the Hawaii Pacific University Men's Golf team and earned a Masters degree in Communications. He also played college golf at Rutgers University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.

As I write this, I am wearing some of the most comfy cargo pants in the world… brushed, thin cotton, soft as a baby’s behind … a man needs more pockets these days.

Why do you write the accusations using “I” and the retractions using “we” ?

What is the obsession with Tiger’s cloths all the time, get a life! The guy is worth half a billion dollars, he can wear whatever the hell he wants, including blond skiers, ohh! Plus, the cargo pants are a great way to store rolls of cash, or Bently car keys, or gold bullion to keep his hands free for activities like; steering his yacht, steering his other yacht, driving one of his Ferrari’s, grabbing the hand rail to safely enter his helicopter on the helipad of his yacht, high fiving his private chef, high fiving his butler, and picking a $500 dollar bottle of wine for dinner from his private wine collection. #WantToBeTiger #HatersGonnaHate

I’m not sure if I’m more upset at 1. how awful that story was or that 2. I knew what the story was about by the title and I clicked on it anyway.

Come on now, this picture is at least ten months old – goes back to at least this USAToday story in January.

He could wear a dress and still be better at golf than the writer or any commenter, even with his injuries. Who cares.

Google “Tiger woods standing on wall photo”. I’m pretty sure it’s from October 2012.

Look at the hat, it has the “VR” logo. Last used in 2012.

I love the idea that bad pants are the foundation of his social media plan.

AVL: My U.S. Amateur local qualifying experience

Published

on

This past Monday, I played in the U.S. Amateur local qualifier at Rock Creek Country Club in Portland, Oregon. A full tee sheet from 7:30 a.m. to 1:55 p.m., the top 11 scores would make it to the U.S. Amateur final qualifying.

I teed off at 10:48 a.m.. With the 7:30 am tee time, you can get a feel for the leaders’ pace, and they were off and running on the challenging setup at Rock Creek.

Getting to the highlight of the round on the par five 17th, a drive up the left side and 212 yards left to the front hole location. I took out a 5-iron with plans of middle of the green. The ball ended up 8 feet left of the hole, pin high. A slight downhill putt dropped in for an eagle 3 on the 17th. With the cut line looking to be anywhere from -2 to even par. This was the boost I had been waiting for all day.

With making par from the trees on 18, it was time to wait for a potential playoff with a posted score of one under par 71.

Three hours later, it was playoff time. 8 players for 6 spots. I made par on the playoff hole, which was good enough to advance to the U.S. Amateur final qualifying in July. USGA qualifiers sure deliver on all of the emotions in golf!
