Rickie Fowler involved in a car crash, says he’s OK

Published

on

Rickie Fowler was the driver in a car crash near his home in Jupiter, Fla., on Tuesday night, which left him briefly hospitalized at JFK Medical Center with cuts and abrasions near his hairline, according to reports. He was released later that night, along with his passenger who was also treated at the hospital but sustained no injuries.

He broke the news via Twitter on Wednesday morning, assuring his fans that he’s fine after the incident.

According to reports, no citations were issued.

Fowler will be playing the Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen Golf Club next week in preparation for the season’s third major, the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool that starts July 17. In his first two major starts this season, Fowler notched a T5 at The Masters and recorded the best major finish of his career at the U.S. Open, where he finished in a tie for second place.

It appears for now that Fowler’s injuries from the crash won’t be a factor moving forward.

He played on the Hawaii Pacific University Men's Golf team and earned a Masters degree in Communications. He also played college golf at Rutgers University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.

With the PGA Tour across the border in Canada this week, GolfWRX Tour Photographer Greg Moore stayed stateside and headed to the OccuNet Classic presented by Amarillo National Bank in Amarillo, Texas.

It’s always interesting to see what the guys are playing on the KFT, and this week certainly hasn’t disappointed so far, with some incredible wedge stamping on display.
