Tiger Woods’ Dubai golf course axed

Published

on

You can still access information about Tiger Woods’ planned Al Ruwaya golf course on his website.

Like a sandcastle waiting to be swept away by the tides, the project sits under the “courses” category of the TW Design tab on TigerWoods.com.

Unfortunately for Woods and the folks at TW Design, Tiger’s website isn’t going to have a lot of new information about the developments at the Dubai course, as the project has been scrapped, according to the L.A. Times.

The course was supposed to be “a true oasis. With a dense, lush palette of vegetation and streams running throughout,” and “a respite from the desert and the pace of the city whether you are playing 18 holes or simply relaxing,” according to the golfer’s website.

It may still be an oasis — albeit one without a golf course.

The top-ranked golfer in the world still has other projects to hang his trademark black Nike hat on, including Diamante in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Punta Brava in Ensenada, Mexico, and the Cliffs in  Asheville, North Carolina.

Woods was slated to earn a reported $55 million to design and promote the luxury golf and residential complex.

Tiger Woods is the world famous and familiar professional golfer player. He is now in top of the golf ranking. Recently he has renewed his contract with Nike. That raises him to the highest earning golfer and also professional sportsman.

Yawwwwwwn. Everyone knows he has nothing to do with design except the use of his name. He is too arrogant to mingle with the masses other than his running buddy Jordan.

His course at Diamante in Cabo is well on it’s way. It should be ready for play by Feb or Mar of 2014. Fairways are starting to green and the greens have been shaped, no grass on them yet.

I would not call the course at The Cliffs an active project, that course stalled years ago when the owner went bankrupt before any holes were built.

Doesn’t look like any of his courses have been built.

A reminder from your friends at GolfWRX: Father’s Day is June 21. And as we do every year, we’re rounding up the best gifts for dad.

As we say every year, there’s no better golf-related Father’s Day gift than a round of golf with pops. Be it a country club or your favorite muni, take the time to get together to play 18 if you can.

Let’s get to the gifts.

We like the new polos that Ghost is offering, as the fabric and fit are so good. These new Qualifier Collection polos breathe well, are lightweight, stretch with your swing, and of course look great. You can wear them on the course, in the office, or just out at a casual event and they will fit right in.

When it comes to practice, it is good to have a purpose. This “Putting Thing” sure does it. We know from personal experience how challenging it can be and how rewarding it is on the practice green. It’s always interesting to see what the guys are playing on the KFT, and this week certainly hasn’t disappointed so far, with some incredible wedge stamping on display.

At GolfWRX, we are a community of like-minded individuals who all experience and express our enjoyment of the game in many ways.

It’s that sense of community that drives day-to-day interactions in the forums on topics that range from best driver to what marker you use to mark your ball. It even allows us to share another thing we all love – buying and selling equipment.

Currently, in our GolfWRX buy/sell/trade (BST) forum, @HuskerFlyer is sharing a Scotty Cameron GOLO with a BGT Stability Tour2 2022 M Edition shaft. While the putter is certainly enviable, the Augusta-inspired shaft is equally noteworthy.
