Project X debuts new Titan wood shaft

Project X HZRDUS shafts have had a major following among players with faster swings. The HZRDUS name was built around stability and control when it was first announced in 2015. Now there is a new shaft in the Project X line for stronger players: Titan.

“Titan Black is a completely new profile that we have been developing with professional golfers during the 2025 season,” said Don Brown, Vice President of Innovation and Marketing at True Temper Sports. “Several tour players put the Titan prototype into play during fall series events, validating the performance and stability we were targeting at the highest level.”

Titan was engineered right in Project X’s headquarters in San Diego, CA, and uses a unique EI profile as well as a new Synex Technology to provide tour-level performance to those players who need it.

The EI profile features a handle section that is more flexible to give players the feel of the shaft loading during the swing. The mid and tip sections are firmer to add stability to the shaft for better dispersion.

Project X created a new Synex Technology to reinforce the shaft’s outer layers. Synex is a multi-axial carbon fiber that is used in the handle and mid-section to increase hoop stiffness and reduce deflection. This new carbon technology improves energy transfer and should help generate additional ball speed.

Titan is available in Tour Extra (TX) flex, with 60, 70, 80, and even 90-gram options for use in a wide range of woods. These new Titan shafts are designed for low launch and low spin while still offering exceptional feel.

This week, we have our Tour Photographer, Greg Moore, on the ground at the OccuNet Classic at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas, for the 14th event of the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour season. With that, we see some great things in the Lead Tape Report as we roll into Amarillo.

Joel Thelen

Monday Qualifier, Joel Thelen is in the field this week. He has played on the Korn Ferry Tour for a full season in 2023, and he is back in action this week. A couple of clubs caught my eye this week in his bag.

First off: His trusted Titleist 816 H2 hybrid. This club came out in October of 2015, and it still remains strong in the bag. Also, take a look at this Odyssey White Hot OG 7, putting a capital S in the 7S model. This custom neck has some impressive lean for an arm-lock-style putter. The bottom of the putter is covered in tape for optimal weighting.

Mitchell Meissner

Taking a look at Mitchell Meissner’s bag this week, we have some great lead tape coverage. Top to bottom working from fairway metals, irons, and wedges. We can see on the short irons and wedges that there is tape at the base of the grip, adding a little counterbalance. Along with that, some tape on the short irons and wedges as well. Moving to his putter, he rolls the Odyssey 7 Bird putter. Meissner putts left-handed and strikes the ball right-handed.
