Spotted: Titleist PT fairway wood from 2001 in Rafa Campos’ bag!

Published

on

Let’s just start by saying that the Titleist PT (Pro Trajectory) fairway is a legendary club that still gets talked about today as one of the best ever made. This week at the Valero Texas Open, we found Rafa Campos gushing over a PT13 3-wood that he still carries in his bag. Now, it isn’t his gamer 3-wood, yet, but he does hit it as a practice club during his range time. We were lucky enough to chat with him about what he loves about the classic 3-wood. You can watch the interview with him below — I love the passion he has for the classic fairway wood!

@golfwrx Find someone who looks at you the way Rafa Campos looks at the @Titleist PT 3-wood ? Does anyone else share the affinity for this club or any others? #golftiktok #golfwrx #golf #fyp #pgatour #titleist #titleistgolf ? original sound – golfwrx

The first thing Campos talked about was how much he loved the small face of the PT fairways. He really loves the feel he gets off the smaller and firmer faces, as the responsiveness lets him know exactly where he makes contact. The one he has isn’t the original one he owned, as he cannot find that one and thinks he must have given it away at some point. He was speaking with a friend, and the topic of the Titleist PT came up, and his friend told Rafa that he had one. His friend brought the PT13 when they met up to play some golf, and it looks to now be in Rafa’s possession.

We asked if he was really going to put it in play, and Rafa mentioned the more flexible steel shaft being the reason he isn’t going to game it…yet. He said that if it could be reshafted with something stiffer, he would probably put it in play. We aren’t sure if the folks on the Titleist tour truck could reshaft the PT, as it uses an old bore-through hosel that modern shafts aren’t designed for. For reference, a bore-through hosel goes through the entire neck of the club and comes out of the heel on the sole. This uses up a lot of the tip section of the shaft, and modern wood shafts only have around 3-4 inches of parallel tip section to work with.

Right now, Rafa will continue to use his gamer 3-wood, but let this be a warning that if it acts up, a classic PT13 is ready to step in!

Slab city on the Korn Ferry Tour — Lead Tape Report

Published

on

This week, we have our Tour Photographer, Greg Moore, on the ground at the OccuNet Classic at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas, for the 14th event of the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour season. With that, we see some great things in the Lead Tape Report as we roll into Amarillo.

Joel Thelen

Monday Qualifier, Joel Thelen is in the field this week. He has played on the Korn Ferry Tour for a full season in 2023, and he is back in action this week. A couple of clubs caught my eye this week in his bag.

First off: His trusted Titleist 816 H2 hybrid. This club came out in October of 2015, and it still remains strong in the bag. Also, take a look at this Odyssey White Hot OG 7, putting a capital S in the 7S model. This custom neck has some impressive lean for an arm-lock-style putter. The bottom of the putter is covered in tape for optimal weighting.

Mitchell Meissner

Taking a look at Mitchell Meissner’s bag this week, we have some great lead tape coverage. Top to bottom working from fairway metals, irons, and wedges. We can see on the short irons and wedges that there is tape at the base of the grip, adding a little counterbalance. Along with that, some tape on the short irons and wedges as well. Moving to his putter, he rolls the Odyssey 7 Bird putter. Meissner putts left-handed and strikes the ball right-handed.
