How to build an at-home golf simulator setup for less than $1,000
So, you want to build a golf simulator setup at home…and you want to do it on a budget. Tall task? An impossibility? Given the recent trend toward affordability in the simulator space, not at all. Our Resident Club Junkie, Brian Knudson shows you how with the Rapsodo MLM2PRO.
And while at-home setups vary substantially based on available resources (both financial and spatial), we are going to provide you with the basics for an affordable at-home winter golf solution — and beyond.
Check out the video below and read on for a full breakdown of our recommendations.
At-home golf simulator setup (under $1,000)
What products do I need?
Rapsodo MLM2PRO: $699.99 (Buy here)

Net: Around $115
GoSports Golf Practice Hitting Net
You want as big of a net as you can fit in your space in case you hit one a little offline! This GoSports net is cheap and offers two sizes to fit your hitting location to make sure you don’t send a ball through your walls!
Mat: Around $120
Golfguru Golf Mat
When building a golf simulator on a budget, you don’t want to completely skimp on everything. This Golfguru mat is large enough to stand on comfortably, and it features a foam base to help absorb some shock. It’s simple, and with a lot of great reviews, this should last you many seasons!
How much space do I need?
With the MLM2Pro, you need between 6.5 and 8.5 feet behind the golf ball for accurate results. The company recommends using the full 8.5 feet if that’s possible.
The MLM2Pro captures most of its data via radar, which means you’ll need another eight feet in front of the ball for accurate readings.
In other words, your space needs to be:
- 10 feet wide
- 14.5 feet deep
- 9 feet tall
More about the MLM2Pro
Rapsodo has packed so much into the compact MLM2Pro launch monitor that you almost can’t believe its $699.99 price tag. Most launch monitors use either cameras or radar to give you data but the MLM2Pro uses both for precision accuracy indoors or outside on the range.
Not only will you get accurate ball data — including measured spin rate — to work on your game, but you can use that same data to play simulated rounds of golf on 30,000-plus golf courses. The golf course simulation is included with the premium membership, which is free for the first year. These aren’t some cheap video game graphics. These are real courses that look amazing and have tons of detail.
Rapsodo didn’t stop with everything mentioned above. They still packed in the Rapsodo Combine and R-Speed programs for dialing in your game or building additional clubhead speed. There is so much included in the Rapsodo MLM2Pro, that you will never get bored using it to improve your game — or just to scratch that winter golf itch!
Other Key Features
- 1-year Premium Membership ($199 value) included with purchase*
- Simulation at 30,000+ golf courses + 2 virtual ranges
- 13 metrics – 6 measured metrics – including spin rate and spin axis
- Rapsodo Combine: Award-winning, gamified practice experience
- Shot Vision and Impact Vision for multi-angle swing replay

As you can see, an at-home simulator setup doesn’t have to break the bank, and we think this setup featuring the Rapsodo MLM2Pro is a first-class option for you at-home practice and play needs.

Slab city on the Korn Ferry Tour — Lead Tape Report
This week, we have our Tour Photographer, Greg Moore, on the ground at the OccuNet Classic at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas, for the 14th event of the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour season. With that, we see some great things in the Lead Tape Report as we roll into Amarillo.
Joel Thelen
Monday Qualifier, Joel Thelen is in the field this week. He has played on the Korn Ferry Tour for a full season in 2023, and he is back in action this week. A couple of clubs caught my eye this week in his bag.
First off: His trusted Titleist 816 H2 hybrid. This club came out in October of 2015, and it still remains strong in the bag. Also, take a look at this Odyssey White Hot OG 7, putting a capital S in the 7S model. This custom neck has some impressive lean for an arm-lock-style putter. The bottom of the putter is covered in tape for optimal weighting.

Mitchell Meissner
Taking a look at Mitchell Meissner’s bag this week, we have some great lead tape coverage. Top to bottom working from fairway metals, irons, and wedges. We can see on the short irons and wedges that there is tape at the base of the grip, adding a little counterbalance. Along with that, some tape on the short irons and wedges as well. Moving to his putter, he rolls the Odyssey 7 Bird putter. Meissner putts left-handed and strikes the ball right-handed.
