Wilhelmina 7 â€“ More Than Just Pretty Faces

Back when the Wilhelmina 7 was announced in June of this year it was an unprecedented move for the world of golf. The famed agency signed seven LPGA Tour members in order to “to complete a void in the marketplace for beautiful and athletically talented female golfers”, according to Wilhelmina Chairman Dieter Esch. In addition, each member has past accomplishments in more than merely being attractive golfers that just happened to make it on the Tour. The group represents a diverse assembly of women from many backgrounds around the world. The original press release states:

“The W⁷ includes only those women with the game, the beauty, and the personality to create a major presence in women’s sports, both on and off the course. The ladies chosen range from newcomers such as Sandra Gal and Anna Grzebien to 8-year professional Johanna Head, as well asStacy Prammanasudh who has amassed two career victories and was selected to represent the USA at the most recent Solheim Cup. Minea Blomqvist who competes on both the LPGA Tour as well as the Ladies European Tour (LET), was awarded the 2003 Rookie of the Year Award and has finished in the top 10 on the Order of Merit List twice as a member of the LET Tour. Other members of the Wilhelmina 7 team, Mikaela Parmlid and Kim Hall, started strong this season and are fully exempt status on the LPGA Tour for the 2008 season.”

Stacy Prammanasudh was a three-time Academic All-American from 2000-2002 in her time at the University of Tulsa and also won ten collegiate events in her time there.

Anna Grzebien received a degree in Psychology from Duke University and was on three NCAA Championship teams.

Sandra Gal was an NGCA Academic All-American in college for the University of Florida from 2005-2007 and won four tournaments at the college level.

Kim Hall was a two-time MVP on the Stanford women’s golf team and received a degree from the prestigious university in American Studies.

Johanna Head started winning championships in 1992 and was named to the 1994 European Junior Team.

Mikaela Parmlid was a nine-time member of the Swedish National Team, 2003 NCAA individual champion while a USC Trojan, and received a degree in Economics from USC.

Minea Blomqvist was a member of the Finnish National Ladies Team from 2001-2003 and a two-time member of the PING Junior Solheim Cup Team.

Just recently, the women of the W⁷ spent time at the Boys and Girls Club of Montgomery, AL and treated 100 children to learn more about the game of golf. Each told their story of where they came from, how they started in golf, and offered words of inspiration. By the end of the day, they were able to show the kids that golf is fun.

Each woman in the group has enjoyed successes at the professional level in many events around the world. The group truly represents the global nature of golf and athletic women that are not only beautiful on the outside, but inside as well.
