Important announcement regarding the GolfWRX forums!

Published

on

Dear GolfWRX Members,

Last year, in an effort to improve the capability of our forums, we switched to new software. We expected tremendous scalability and rapid customization that would significantly improve each Member’s experience across multiple devices and integrate flawlessly with social media platforms.

Unfortunately, after a significant capital expense, we have decided that the length of time and the additional cost to reach our goals make this enterprise untenable.

Thus, we have made the difficult decision to transition the forums to our original software platform. We’re excited that, in the nearly two years since we began the process of our most recent switch, our original platform has been upgraded significantly, and we are confident that the reversion will not only provide the stability that we desperately needed prior to our last move but will also return to the Membership the high level of customization that made our online community so great. We have also added technical resources to the GolfWRX staff that will allow us to build custom modules and modifications that we are confident will take the forums to the next level.

We remain the world’s largest online golf community, and we still hold true to our core values and mission statement as written in 2005. Bearing both of those elements in mind, being the best and offering our Members a platform that is world-class are both requirements, not options, and it is that spirit that has motivated this decision.

So, please pardon our mess over the next five days or so while we transition the forums.

A few important notes: Current content will be accessible during that time, but the forums will be READ ONLY, and you will not be able to start new threads or reply to posts. Personal Messaging is enabled, but PMs sent/received from the time the board was frozen will not carry over. We know this is inconvenient, and we apologize, and we greatly appreciate GolfWRXers bearing with us through the transition.

We are very excited about starting this next chapter for GolfWRX and getting back to the high-quality Member experience we all expect as soon as possible.

We share your golf passion. You can follow GolfWRX on Twitter @GolfWRX, Facebook and Instagram.

“The next five days or so.”

Many of us remember the long slog to version 2.0. If the forums are back in less than a week, I will be shocked.

What is going on at Golfwrx that they are incapable of performing a proper upgrade?

Excellent news if a bit late. I honestly don’t know how Vanilla software works for anyone nor how the company survives. It is a very user-unfriendly platform and the support model sets organizations up for disaster. Hope this transition is smoother for users.

I wish that the first page was the latest comments and they filed back instead of page 11 being the latest and 1 the first.

Please, one thing to consider is making your information available to all people regardless of abilities or disabilities. Someone who is blind may still enjoy your site if they can use a screen reader and keyboard. Someone who has mobility issues may be forced to use a keyboard always or some other device for input. If your site does not always allow that it is frustrating. You may also open yourself to litigation as the American’s with Disability Act (ADA) may be invoked in a lawsuit for discrimination.

So a little thought and care would be appreciated.

True WRX ho’ing. Have the trusty flatstick. Try something newer/flashier for a few rounds. Revert to old.

I blame Gianni and his terrible articles.

The moral of the story here is that you didn’t listen or learn from mistakes.

Genuine constructive feedback was met with hostility and aggression. Take a quick look at the threads on ads in threads for evidence.

Forum site visits have hit rock bottom I bet. Fingers crossed 3.0 works better!

Please restore the iPhone app and also BST feedback

Please tell me the next thing you are going to do is remove the SUPER ANNOYING pop ups at the bottom of the screen when reading your articles. The video one, at least you can close, but the “Read Next Article” one doesn’t have an “X” to close, and the user experience is awful, especially when reading on an iPad!

Totally agree with this comment, the amount of adverts on this site makes it almost un-usable at times and the amount of time they take to load means that I do not use WRX anywhere as often as I used to, please get rid of EVERY pop up

Will we get our feedback from BST transactions back that were discontinued with the “new” format???

    • dp4sc

      Aug 11, 2020 at 9:53 pm

Amen, I have been away from the community since the changeover to the “improved” version. My old man, God rest his sole, once said if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Looking forward to the new old normal again!

Bout time!!! I went from logging on almost daily and interacting in the forums to MAYBE logging in 3-4 times since “update” and im not the only one. Hopefully this transition goes MUCH smoother than the dumpster fire of the last one.

About damn time! The new forum software is horrible compared to what we had before. I noticed a decline in activity during and after the switchover. Advance notice would’ve been appreciated for ongoing BST transactions though–I feel like that’s a big driver of activity.

    Aug 11, 2020 at 4:36 pm

For hose of us who were in the middle of BST transactions, a little notice would have been appreciated. “Beginning at 6PM EST tonight, the forums will be read only……”
Not too hard – other web sites do it all the time for maintenance……

We all know who the tech is really designed to work for. Google can track your every keystroke, but try to hold a Z**m meeting without freezes, dropouts and bombing… As long as the ads work, the coder’s job is done.

Most birdies without breaking par – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, one user is wondering how many birdies other players have had in a round while still failing to break par. @Lalan45, unfortunately, asked the question after a unique experience of their own.

They wrote:

“Today I managed 8 birdies but still shot even par, could have been a round to remember! What’s the most birdies you’ve made in a round and still didn’t break par?”

Our members in the forum shared their own experiences with successful rounds that still resulted in a score over par. Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • kwcsports: “I’ve had 5 a few times, still shot 80+ haha.”
  • jda: “I played a course for the first time, had 8 birdies, 9 doubles and an eagle. The infamous no-par round. I kept the scorecard. Every shot had a creek that I did not know about, or I was within 8-10 feet for a birdie look. To this day, I have no idea if I should be really jacked up or mad about that performance.”
  • jvincent: “I think my record is either 5 or 6. Probably shot 75.”
  • Instron4204: “3 birdies and shot a 92…man I suck!”

Best current stock shaft 2026 – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, one user is asking for thoughts on the best stock shafts offered in 2026. Stock shafts are the shafts included with a club when it’s purchased from retailers or OEMs.

@DTorres asked:

The last couple years has seen a lot of updates and additions to no upcharge stock shafts, which do you think is the best offering in 2026?

Im a bit of a shaft nerd and recently during my Members Testing with the Callaway Quantum Triple Diamond I found the updated Project X Denali Frost Black to be a fantastic stock shaft. I absolutely did not mesh well with the original Denali. Just curious what other people think are the current best Stock shaft offerings out with new models and stock Ventus options and LinQ options popping up here and there.

We were given the option for any stock shafts for our members review. I went with the 70g Black Frost 6.5 because it’s a shaft I don’t have, it’s an updated version of the original Denali and hear little about. I typically use a Diamana WB, GD VF or a HOF Raptor. I’m not saying it was neck and neck with any of those but it was a pleasant surprise I’m not accustomed to in stock shaft offerings.

Our members in the forum have been offering up their own thoughts on the best stock shafts available in 2026. Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • rsballer10: “IMO – MCA Ka’ili White Darkwave, Tensei 1k Black/white, UST Lin-Q White. People are free to spend their money however they see fit, but for me personally the shaft catalogs these days have enough options that I don’t see the value of a $400 upcharge. I have never had a problem finding a no upcharge shaft that fits the bend profile and weight that I need. Whether the paint job is good enough or not is above my pay scale.”
  • bcflyguy1: “Project X Titan Black. I’ve had one in 60TX in my Quantum TD Max for several weeks now. Have to give Titlieist their flowers for finding a way to make it available as a featured option; very shrewd bit of business and one that I suspect will be duplicated by the other companies. TT/PX have a certified banger on their hands with Titan.”
  • CTG77: “Undoubtedly, it’s the Tensei 1K RIP shafts from Titleist. The Tensei line gives about 98% of the performance of a Ventus VeloCore+ shaft at a tiny fraction of the cost if you’re looking for a blue or red profile. The white is not an exact match for Ventus Black, but it’s closer to it than the non-VeloCore+ Ventus shafts that come from Callaway or formerly came from TaylorMade.”
