Puma signs Alvaro Quiros to apparel endorsement deal

Published

Puma has signed European Tour player Alvaro Quiros to a contract that will have him wearing the company’s apparel and accessories, joining Rickie Fowler, Graham DeLaet, Lexi Thompson and Jonas Blixt as the company’s main endorsers.

[quote_box_center]“Alvaro is a perfect fit for Puma Golf,” said Bob Philion, President and CEO of Cobra-Puma Golf. “He has a unique style and brings swagger and talent to the course, making him a perfect representation of the Puma Golf brand.”[/quote_box_center]

The long-hitting Spaniard has won six European Tour events, with his last win coming at the 2011 Dubai World Championship. His best finish in a major came at the 2010 Open Championship, where he finished T11.

[quote_box_center]“Puma Golf is a great fit for me, and I’m excited to be part of the team,” Quiros said. “They have fashionable apparel that fits my style and allows me to still perform my best on course. I look forward to representing Puma Golf on Tour in 2016 and beyond.”[/quote_box_center]

Quiros is visiting Puma’s worldwide headquarters in Germany this week prior to playing the Porsche European Open. He is currently signed to an endorsement contract to play Callaway golf clubs.

He won’t move the needle on sales one bit…complete waste of cash.

He was wearing puma shoes and possibly clothes as well since couples of months. I thought he was already under sponsorship.

Having been to a few tournaments and watched most of the top players in the world I can say Quiros comes across as one of the nicest, genuine, charismatic guys out there. I watched someone thank him for an autograph and he was like no thank you, if it wasn’t for you guys we wouldn’t be here. He couldn’t spend enough time speaking to folks, taking pictures and signing stuff and looked happy to do it, not because he felt obliged to do it. Just a shame his game hasn’t been as good as it could be recently.

With the PGA Tour across the border in Canada this week, GolfWRX Tour Photographer Greg Moore stayed stateside and headed to the OccuNet Classic presented by Amarillo National Bank in Amarillo, Texas.

It’s always interesting to see what the guys are playing on the KFT, and this week certainly hasn’t disappointed so far, with some incredible wedge stamping on display.
