2015 PGA Championship Betting Odds

Published

on

What’s not surprising about the betting odds for this weekend’s PGA Championship at Whistling Straits is that Jordan Spieth is the favorite. What is surprising, though, is who is right behind him.

With Spieth on the board at 11/2, it’s Rory McIlroy in second at 10/1. That seems pretty generous considering that McIlroy hasn’t played a competitive round of golf since early July, when he suffered an ankle injury.

This is the third time this year that Spieth and McIlroy have occupied the top spots on the board. McIlroy was listed as the favorite before both the Masters and U.S. Open, and both of course were won by Spieth. If Spieth lives up to the prediction, he will complete the American Grand Slam this year — the first to ever do that.

According to vegasinsider.com, the long layoff for McIlroy has only slightly hurt his odds. He reportedly opened the summer at 8/1 odds to win his second Wanamaker Trophy in a row.

Dustin Johnson is listed at 13/1 odds to shake off his bugaboos at majors and get his first win at one of golf’s biggest events. A win this weekend would be fitting, as Whistling Straits is the site where he inadvertently grounded his club in a bunker and was assessed a two-stroke penalty that took him from winning the event to missing the three-hole playoff.

Zach Johnson, winner of last month’s Open Championship, is listed at 50/1 odds. That’s behind both Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods, who each have 30/1 odds.

Darren Clarke has the worst odds (not including the not-listed 20 PGA Professionals who will be in the field) going off at 1,000/1.

Robert Streb at 150/1 odds? Danny Lee at 100/1? Justin Thomas at 100/1? Has the person/people that made these odds actually been watching golf recently?

With the PGA Tour across the border in Canada this week, GolfWRX Tour Photographer Greg Moore stayed stateside and headed to the OccuNet Classic presented by Amarillo National Bank in Amarillo, Texas.

It’s always interesting to see what the guys are playing on the KFT, and this week certainly hasn’t disappointed so far, with some incredible wedge stamping on display.
