Monday’s Photos from the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay

Published

on

GolfWRX is live this week from the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash. The course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., will reportedly measure between 7,200 and 7,874 yards and play as a par-70 for the championship.

Rory McIlroy, ranked No. 1 in the Official World Golf Rankings, and Jordan Spieth (No. 2), come into this week as the heavy betting favorites to take home the U.S. Open Trophy.

Chambers Bay, an unpredictable and unfamiliar venue to most players on the PGA Tour, hosted the 2010 U.S. Amateur Championship where Spieth fell short of qualifying for the match portion of the event as a junior.

Notable story lines

  • Phil Mickelson (No. 17) will try to secure a career Grand Slam with a victory this week.
  • Tiger Woods (No. 195) looks to win his first U.S. Open since 2008 at Torrey Pines. He has only missed the cut one time in the U.S. Open (2006) in his career.
  • Martin Kaymer (No. 19) is defending his U.S. Open title where he won by eight strokes over Erik Compton and Rickie Fowler.

I had one with the stock shaft and killed that thing. Wish I never got rid of it.

With the PGA Tour across the border in Canada this week, GolfWRX Tour Photographer Greg Moore stayed stateside and headed to the OccuNet Classic presented by Amarillo National Bank in Amarillo, Texas.

It’s always interesting to see what the guys are playing on the KFT, and this week certainly hasn’t disappointed so far, with some incredible wedge stamping on display.
