SuperStroke adds Dave Stockton as brand ambassador

Published

on

One of the hottest grip companies in golf has added one of the game’s premier instructors to its team.

SuperStroke, which has infiltrated the bags of professional golfers with its oversized putter grips, has partnered with Dave Stockton Sr., one of golf’s most respected putting gurus. Stockton will act as a brand ambassador for SuperStroke, and brings a depth of knowledge and experience that are matched by few other instructors in the game.

“Dave Stockton is one of the pre-eminent putting instructors in golf,” said SuperStroke President Dean Dingman. “His own experience as a player, as well as his feedback from the best tour players in the world, are going to be key in helping us develop some cutting edge concepts and designs for future club and putter grips.”

Stockton joined the PGA Tour in 1964 and has 25 career wins highlighted by a total of five major victories: two PGA Championships (1970, 1976), two Senior Players Championships (1992, 1994) and a U.S. Senior Open Championship (1996).

Some of golf’s highest-ranked players, including Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, Matt Kuchar, Adam Scott and Suzann Pettersen, have enlisted Stockton’s services as a putting instructor during their careers. His assistance has accounted for more than 60 worldwide victories among his students. He has also authored multiple instructional books including Putt to Win, Own Your Game, Unconscious Scoring and his most popular instructional book to date, Unconscious Putting.

Stockton, with a heavy arsenal of short game knowledge, supports the technology that SuperStroke employs in its grips.

“SuperStroke’s parallel grips provide a unique feel for golfers of any level,” Stockton said. “The different sizes make this an outstanding product for pros and amateurs alike. They help to evenly distribute grip pressure in the player’s hands resulting in a more consistent stroke.”

Jordan Spieth, golf’s most promising young talent, Jason Dufner, the 2013 PGA Championship winner, and Victor Dubuisson currently serve as the faces of the SuperStroke brand. Since 2011, its putter grips have accumulated 35 professional wins on the PGA, Web.com and European Tours, including two major championships. On a given week, 30 to 50 PGA Tour players game a SuperStroke grip in competition.

Stockton’s addition further authenticates SuperStroke’s product, and his short game intelligence will be an asset in developing lines of game-changing, innovative grips for the future.

He played on the Hawaii Pacific University Men's Golf team and earned a Masters degree in Communications. He also played college golf at Rutgers University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.

In Dave’s putting book Putt To Win he recommends a thiner putter grip, specifically pistol shaped, for maximizing feel. I guess this new endorsement cash has him singing a different tune.

This comment just made my day! Of course though there is a difference between feel and getting a little stroke assistance from grip design. Technically bare shaft would give a ton of “feel” but superstrokes help me maintain wrist position during the stroke.

That book was published about 6 years before SuperStroke grips were invented.

Slab city on the Korn Ferry Tour — Lead Tape Report

Published

on

This week, we have our Tour Photographer, Greg Moore, on the ground at the OccuNet Classic at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas, for the 14th event of the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour season. With that, we see some great things in the Lead Tape Report as we roll into Amarillo.

Joel Thelen

Monday Qualifier, Joel Thelen is in the field this week. He has played on the Korn Ferry Tour for a full season in 2023, and he is back in action this week. A couple of clubs caught my eye this week in his bag.

First off: His trusted Titleist 816 H2 hybrid. This club came out in October of 2015, and it still remains strong in the bag. Also, take a look at this Odyssey White Hot OG 7, putting a capital S in the 7S model. This custom neck has some impressive lean for an arm-lock-style putter. The bottom of the putter is covered in tape for optimal weighting.

Mitchell Meissner

Taking a look at Mitchell Meissner’s bag this week, we have some great lead tape coverage. Top to bottom working from fairway metals, irons, and wedges. We can see on the short irons and wedges that there is tape at the base of the grip, adding a little counterbalance. Along with that, some tape on the short irons and wedges as well. Moving to his putter, he rolls the Odyssey 7 Bird putter. Meissner putts left-handed and strikes the ball right-handed.
