‘That’s why I over-obsess with videoing’ – Nelly Korda has a ‘disgusting’ amount of swing videos on her phone

Nelly Korda is sitting in a great position after the first round of the Chevron Championship. The one-time major winner fired a 68 (-4) on Thursday and is only one shot back of the lead held by Peiyun Chien.

If Korda is able to win the event, she’d take home $750,000, which should be just enough to cover the extra storage she’s had to buy on her iPhone.

In Korda’s post-round press conference, she spoke about the incredible amount of swing videos she has stored in her cell phone when she was asked about how she’s been improving her swing.

“Oh, yeah, so many videos on my phone, it’s disgusting.”

When asked if her dad was the one who helps her take the videos, she replied that she does it on her own.

“No, I have one of those tripods, do it myself. If people knew how many swing videos I had on my phone and if I had to ask my dad to video that many swings, he would boycott every one of my practices.”

“I mean, videos, I probably have — I don’t even know. I mean, probably 6,000 swing videos. Maybe more. Like I go through a practice session and I’ll probably video maybe 20 or 30 until I really like it, and then I play that one.

But I have been told that I need to stop, or I just need to delete them all and keep the one I want.”

Of course, the question that comes next is how much iPhone storage she has.

“Yeah, a lot. Like I keep upgrading.”

Korda added:

“It’s hard because I grew up in an academy setting where I had a coach behind me, and after every shot he would tell me if my positions were good, but then when you’re by yourself, which a majority of the time when I’m practicing I am, it’s hard to know if one swing was good and one swing was not in my positions because your feel is different every day. That’s why I over-obsess with videoing. It’s just to check to see if I’m actually hitting the positions I want.”

After making birdie on the last two holes and taking advantage of the par-5’s, the 24-year-old star is an excellent spot to contend for another major championship.

“Yeah, I took advantage of the par-5s today. I think I birdied them all, so that was important, as I’m a bit of a longer hitter. Overall, I played pretty well. It was nice to finish the way I did with just a tap-in birdie, but made a couple mistakes here and there where it was more of the yardage where I was a little too aggressive and I left myself a little short-sided chip, and with the rain that we got during the delay, I wasn’t sure how it was going to react, bump-and-running it or flopping it. Just made a couple of mistakes there, but that’s a given at a major championship.”

CBS’s Sunday Masters coverage slammed by golf fans

While Sunday was a dramatic day at the Masters, many golf fans were left feeling frustrated by the CBS final round coverage.

There were plenty of moments that golf fans took to social media to air their frustrations on Sunday over, including a lack of shots being shown throughout the day, being behind the live action, confusion over the approach shots of the final group on 18, and providing an angle for the winning putt where the cup couldn’t be seen.

Here’s a look at some of the criticisms that were directed at the CBS coverage throughout the day on X:

The surprise club Tommy Fleetwood says is key to his Masters chances

Tommy Fleetwood goes in search for the first major victory of his career again this week, with the Englishman proving to be a popular pick at Augusta National.

Fleetwood’s best showing at Augusta came back in 2024 where he finished T3, and while speaking at his pre-tournament press conference, the 35-year-old emphasized the importance of his 9-wood in his pursuit of the green jacket.

Speaking on Tuesday to media, Fleetwood said:

“It’s a great 9-wood golf course. I think it’s always been — I can’t remember when I first put like a 9-wood in or a high lofted club, but it’s a perfect like 9-wood golf course. I’ve had that in the bag for a few years.”

The Englishman continued, revealing that his strategy for the week won’t just be to hit driver off the tee as much as possible:

“Yeah, it’s funny really because I know Augusta is probably associated with being fairly forgiving off the tee in a way, so you think you can whale around driver a little bit. But I don’t necessarily think that’s always the play for me. I think there’s holes that set up really well where I can draw it with the mini driver if I’m feeling less comfortable with the driver and things like that.”

That strategy he believes will make his TaylorMade Qi10 9-wood extra critical this week in Georgia:

“The biggest thing is the 9-wood for me. If I can put myself in position on the par-5s or the 4th long par-3, like it — for me, I can’t really hit that high 4-iron, so 9-wood helps me a lot.”
