The golf-related tweet that has led to Dave Portnoy’s Twitter account being locked

Published

on

The founder of Barstool Sports, Dave Portnoy, has recently taken up golf betting. Portnoy bet Scottie Scheffler at last week’s Travelers Championship.

On Sunday, Scheffler was once again in the lead during the final round of the event when protestors stormed the 18th green prior to Scottie and his playing partner Tom Kim, attempting their putts.

Portnoy was irate with the protestors intruding on the golf tournament and voiced his displeasure through his X account.

In a tweet that’s since been taken down, Portnoy wrote, “EXECUTE THESE PROTESTORS!!!!”.

Apparently, the tweet has gotten Portnoy banned from X.

It’s unclear when Portnoy will be reinstated to X.

Charley Hull signed very unusual item for fan at last week’s PGA Championship

Published

on

LPGA Tour player, Charley Hull, is one of the most popular women’s golfers on the planet. The 28-year-old is a great golfer, but recently has gained popularity due to the fact that openly smokes cigarettes on the golf course during events.

This past weekend, Hull was once involved with a cigarette on the golf course, this time signing one for a fan.

A signed cigarette is quite the souvenir, and I’d imagine that one cigarette that will never be smoked.

3-time DP World Tour winner says he’d love to join LIV Golf

Published

on

Last week, DP World Tour player John Catlin took the spot of the injured Charles Howell III on Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers team for LIV Nashville.

The 33-year-old played extremely well, finishing T7 and making $562,500 in the process.

After the event, Catlin said he’d love to join LIV full time.

“I’d be lying if I said it didn’t creep in there, but again, I don’t really have any control over that. That’s up to the captains. That’s up to managers. That’s up to the team organization.”

“If I just keep doing what I’m doing, things are going to work out, and I’m going to keep putting in the work, and I hope I get more opportunities to showcase what I can do.

“I can tell you that right now; I would love to be out here.”

Catlin got the opportunity due to his strong play on the Asian Tour, where he won two events this season.

He currently leads the Asian Tour International Series Order of Merit, of which the winner receives a LIV exemption for 2025.

Catlin added that he enjoys the format and atmosphere on LIV.

“I’m loving it, I’ve always liked playing golf with music. Whenever I’m at home playing golf with my friends we always have music, so it kind of feels like that again.

“The team part is really awesome. Nowhere else do we have that. We kind of have a lot of team chemistry, team camaraderie, and I feel like that’s helped make the transition easier.

“I’ve been a pro for 11 years. I’ve played on pretty much every tour in the world. I’ve had a chance to meet all these guys before, and coming back, it just kind of felt like, hey, I haven’t seen you in a while.”

He’ll tee it up next at LIV Valderrama in a few weeks time.
