Gary Player accuses son of unauthorized sale of his memorabilia

Published

on

This morning, Gary Player issued a statement via his Twitter account. According to the statement, Gary’s son, Marc has been auctioning off trophies and memorabilia without his father’s permission.

This isn’t the first dispute between Player and his son, Marc. Back in 2020, the nine-time major champion won a settlement in court against Marc. Player got $5 million and the rights to his name and likeness back from a company operated by Marc in a Florida lawsuit.

The Player family are no strangers to controversy, with Gary’s other son, Wayne, banned from the Masters for life after pulling a guerrilla marketing stunt during the opening ceremony tee shots back in 2021.

Bryson offers lesson to Sauce Gardner after Jets’ star cornerback catches golf bug

Published

on

The New York Jets’ star cornerback, Sauce Gardner, has caught the golf bug.

The former fourth overall pick has been posting his golf swing on his X all week.

TaylorMade then took notice of Gardner’s sudden golf addiction and got him “dialed”.

The reigning U.S. Open champion, Bryson DeChambeau, also caught wind of Gardner’s newfound passion. With his massive following and growing YouTube channel, Bryson would be a logical fit to make some content with Sauce.

Sauce responded, saying “I think this is what the world wants”.

Hopefully, we can expect some YouTube content in the near future featuring Gardner and DeChambeau.

Lee Westwood takes aim at ‘young guys’ over pace of play during practice rounds

Published

on

Lee Westwood is playing on the senior circuit for the first time in his career this week at the U.S. Senior Open. The 50-year-old became eligible on his birthday last April when he turned 50.

Westwood enters the senior major championship in good form, finishing 3rd in his most recent start at LIV Nashville. While speaking prior to the event this week, the Englishman said he’s enjoying the atmosphere so far. He’s also enjoying the fact that the pace of play seems to be better with the older players.

“I’m looking forward to this week and looking forward to the first couple of rounds, playing with a couple of old friends, Miguel [Angel Jimenez] and Jerry Kelly.

“Practice rounds out here are way faster than everywhere else. It’s such a joy, and it’s so refreshing to play nine holes in two hours in a practice round. It’s incredible.

“If the old guys can do it, why can’t the young guys do it?”

Westy added that his game is in “very good shape.”

“I’m hitting the ball well, hitting it a long way. Putting’s good, which it has to be to contend in tournaments no matter where you play.”

Westwood will aim to become the second consecutive LIV player to win a senior major after Richard Bland won the Senior PGA Championship last month.

LIV Golf streaming partner shuts down citing lack of profitability

Published

on

Caffeine TV, which was the home of live streaming for Friday rounds of LIV Golf in some countries, decided to shut down its service on Wednesday.

The post mentions that a lack of profitability is the reason behind the decision.

As X user “Danby” points out, there are plenty of other ways to watch LIV Golf, including YouTube and the LIV Golf+ app.

Keith Hirshland, who is one of LIV’s television producers, added that Caffeine was just one of “many” streaming partners.
