Is Tiger done?
WRXer DrSchteeve begged the question everyone is asking (even those who think speculation is pointless): Is Tiger Woods finished? He titled the thread diplomatically (“Should Topic Title Be: Tiger Is Done, or Is Tiger Done?”) but offered his take: TW will never return to his winning ways.

How far do you hit your 3-wood from the fairway?
290 carry! But really, there’s plenty of latitude in how far golfers, even good golfers, can hit their 3 woods from the fairway. Without a clean, center strike, you’re probably not carrying it more than 225, right? To formulate an average, have a look at baller4opca’s thread.
The most overrated course you’ve played?
A thread that has more opinions than there are haters of TPC Sawgrass.

In our forums, our members have been having an interesting discussion on bag setups. WRXer ‘Ghostdunc27’ has been unable to replace the 3-wood he loved and is currently “toying around with the idea of a mini driver or even a higher lofted regular driver with a shorter shaft” to his bag, and reaches out to fellow members on their thoughts.

- tjwilliams31: “I am tinkering with this now. I currently play an SLDR S 14 degree driver at 42.75 as my secondary tee club and it works great. My issue with a lower lofted driver at that length was the tendency for the ball to drop out of the air with a lack of spin. Again this could just be an issue in my delivery at the ball. Everyone in the forum references the Marty Jertson WITB on Youtube with PING and he plays a secondary driver around that length in lieu of 3 wood.”
- adamwon84: “I switch between a mini driver and a normal 3 wood (15 degrees, crank down to 14) depending on the course. The mini driver is the newest Taylormade mini driver, set at 13.5 degrees and the 3 wood is the Callaway Smoke AI 15 degree set to 14. Both are great, but I am finding that the mini driver is more and more impressive as I use it (especially off the tee box). I did have a mini 300 model that had a 42.5 inch shaft that was fun on the deck and off the tee, really really solid. My current one is with the stock length shaft, but I am looking at ordering a shorter shaft to experiment with.”
- agree1977: “Have a TSR2 driver and the 13.5 TM BRNR, I use both about the same amount of times a round, it just changes throughout the year, depending on weather, form, course i’m playing, etc. I just found that my 3-wood and 5-wood were pretty much overlaying in a few areas, so set the 5 wood to 18 degrees and it does all i need for a fairway.”

What club purchase has more impact on overall game: Driver or putter? – GolfWRXers discuss

- WipeyFade: “I think with both it’s more about forgiveness than anything. I guess it would depend on which you mishit the most. In my opinion the only difference between a 10 year old driver and a new driver is going to be the forgiveness level. Same with putters.”
- rooski: “The technology of a newer driver will do much more in forgiveness than any putter technology that has come out since they were shafted with wood (other than maybe L.A.B, that’s some real stuff). That being said, if you currently don’t like your putter, I would upgrade it first given that you seem to enjoy your current driver. If your current driver/putter are roughly equal, I’d go driver first.”

He looks uncomfortable on the course. He may play through his poor play but does he have the physical ability? Paired with the best at Torrey and then two of the European tours best ,Tiger looked very inadequate . I keep hearing commentators talk about coming back when he is physically able and to take his time. I am not hearing anyone talk about the fact that this may be is good as he will get despite taking more time. He has given us so much on the course with his incredible play and record but he is the old war horse now and looks the part. I hope he is able to keep playing and spiking interest in perhaps make a run at the major record.

I can only hope that for all the golfers who flocked to the gym to follow Tigers success will take a time out and re-evaluate what has happened to Tiger. Most experts will tell you flexibility is required in golf not hulk like muscles. Rory& company should take notice now before it’s too late

Sorry, but Tiger’s experiences are his own. Everyone is different. Gym work is done by most everyone on Tour right now. The physio trailers are packed week in and week out. Most guys are not trying to max out and deadlift 500 lbs. Weights and a stretching program, if done correctly and done within one’s own limits, can and usually is very beneficial to the golf game. The strengthening of muscles, especially in the lumbar/back area, will help most and not be a detriment.

People who pay people like Tiger major $$$ expect him to make the cut and play the weekend. They can only be fooled for so long and he won’t command any appearance fees or get a reduction of those fees if he keeps missing cuts. Just ask John Daly when he was playing in his prime.

YES, he is finished, especially wrt winning again
It was sad to see him struggle so badly over the past few weeks, and I am by no means a fan
It was like the last few years of Seve’s career
He should retire now and give up all the comeback nonsense

I think it’s over for Tiger. I think he fell into the vanity trap years ago putting muscle on that really does nothing for the golf swing, or the back. I still scratch my head though wondering how a guy with a serious back issue is able to keep lifting weights and keep that muscle on his frame even at 41…
